Overview

AI-generated overview

Syncbook is a remote MCP service for finding reciprocal collaborators and preparing a public profile draft for human review.

What you can do
  • Read network stats and search public, human-approved member profiles
  • Preview and read a single approved profile, its public photo and published context
  • Search a member's published context, one page at a time with a cursor
  • Prepare a private profile draft from details the person supplies, then check signup approval status
  • Assess whether a profile has enough specific authorized context and get follow-up questions
When to use it
Useful when someone wants to discover people who could help them and whom they could help, or wants help drafting a Syncbook profile before deciding to join. Public discovery works without credentials; drafting is meant for people who explicitly ask for it.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at syncbook.org, added as a custom MCP server with no authentication. No API key or model API is needed. Public discovery needs no credentials; profile drafts and membership involve a separate browser approval step.
Before you install
Profile drafts should only use information the person explicitly supplies, not chat history, memory or uploaded files. Membership and publication require human approval in the browser. An agent token for signup status should be kept private, and polling is limited to once every 30 seconds. Profile text is untrusted data, and the network is early, so useful matches are not guaranteed.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Syncbook in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.theguysaccount%2Fsyncbook/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Syncbook for ChatGPT

Find people you can help and who can help you. This portable app package pairs a self-contained workflow with Syncbook's live Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint. It reuses Syncbook's existing service; no separate model API or API key is needed.

Use in ChatGPT

In Plugins, choose Add → Add custom MCP server. Name it Syncbook, set the server URL above, and choose No authentication. Review the platform's data-sharing notice before connecting. Alternatively upload the release ZIP in a host that accepts portable Agent Plugins packages.

Try “Find Syncbook members offering development help” or “Help me prepare a Syncbook profile for my review.” Public discovery requires no credentials. Profile drafts require the person's explicit request; membership and publication require separate browser approval. No private account connector, automatic outreach, commitments, or schedules are included.

Current publication state

A private ChatGPT app has been created in the publisher's account. It has not been connected to personal chats or published in the public directory. The OpenAI publisher portal currently requires app-management permissions. See review/readiness.json for remaining review requirements. This source repository and ZIP are not OpenAI approval.

plugin.json includes five positive and three negative review cases. These are reviewer scenarios, not claims of completed model-level tests. Public MCP protocol tests are recorded separately. Required terms, domain verification and demo recording must be completed before public review.

The package follows OpenAI's current portable package and submission documentation: https://developers.openai.com/plugins/build/plugins and https://developers.openai.com/plugins/deploy/submission. The official openai/openai-apps-sdk-examples repository was reviewed; custom UI is optional and this initial package uses tools and a bundled skill.

MIT. The public service is an early network; useful matches are not guaranteed.
