Overview

AI-generated overview

Generates classroom or event seating charts from rules and checks an existing chart against constraints such as keep-apart and front-seat rules.

What you can do
  • Generate a seating chart from rules: classroom layouts (rows, pairs, groups of four), keep-apart and front-seat constraints, mixed groups, or a fresh weekly chart that avoids last week's neighbours; also wedding, party and similar event plans.
  • Check an existing chart, given as typed rows or tables or a file with Name and Table columns, against rules such as keep apart, keep together, front seat, households together, head table, kids table and table capacities.
  • Report which rules a chart breaks.
When to use it
Useful when a teacher needs a new classroom arrangement each week, or when someone planning a wedding or party wants a seating plan that respects household, head-table and capacity rules, and wants an existing plan verified.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint; no authentication, environment variables or headers are declared.
Before you install
It produces and checks seating plans only; verify the output before printing or sharing, since rule results depend on the constraints supplied.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Zovo Seating Chart in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.theluckystrike%2Fseating-chart/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

generate_seating_chart

Generate seating chart

Use this when the user wants a seating chart or seating plan: a classroom seating chart for students (rows, pairs or groups of 4; keep two students apart; seat some students near the front; mixed groups; a new random seating chart each week that avoids last week's neighbours) or a wedding, party or banquet seating chart (round or long tables of N, keep couples and households together, keep two guests apart, head table, kids table). Accepts typed names or an uploaded roster or guest list (CSV/Excel). It checks each hard rule and reports any conflict, naming the rules that cannot all hold together. Returns the chart, a soft-preference score, and links to a printable PDF, place cards and Excel. Same seed gives the same chart; change seed to reshuffle. Each call saves new PDF and Excel files (which include the names) on the plugin server for 1 hour (private download links), then deletes them. Rosters are not saved. Does not seat stadiums, theaters or airplanes.

check_seating_chart

Check seating chart

Use this when the user already has a seating chart (typed rows or tables, or a file with Name and Table columns) and wants to check it against rules: who must be kept apart, kept together, needs a front seat, households together, head table and kids table, table capacities. Returns each broken rule with the people involved, the soft-preference score, and the same printable PDF, place cards and Excel for that chart. Does not move anyone; to make a new chart use generate_seating_chart. Each call saves new PDF and Excel files (which include the names) on the plugin server for 1 hour (private download links), then deletes them. Not for stadium or airline seat maps.
