Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that checks CSV, TSV and Excel files for data errors and profiles their columns before import or sending.

What you can do
  • Profile a spreadsheet: list detected columns, types and suggested validation rules
  • Check a spreadsheet for errors: bad or mixed-format dates, invalid emails, phone digit counts, duplicates, blanks, numbers stored as text, extra spaces, broken IDs and totals that do not add up
  • Get per-check counts, the first issues with row, column and cell value, and download links to a highlighted Excel copy
When to use it
Use it when a spreadsheet is about to be imported, sent to someone or used for reporting and you want errors found first, or when you need a quick profile of an unfamiliar file's columns and types.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package, account, API key or environment variable is declared. Files are supplied by attaching a CSV, TSV or .xlsx file or pasting the table.
Before you install
Uploaded spreadsheet contents are sent to a third-party hosted service, so avoid confidential or regulated data unless that is acceptable. The server states it does not edit the data, but it produces a highlighted Excel copy with download links.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Zovo Spreadsheet Checker in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.theluckystrike%2Fsheet-validate/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Check spreadsheet for errors

Use this when the user wants to check a spreadsheet for errors or validate data before importing or sending it: "check spreadsheet for errors", "data validation excel", "find duplicates in excel", "check this csv for errors", "find invalid dates", "are there bad emails in this list". Attach a CSV, TSV or .xlsx file or paste the table. With no rules it detects column types from the values and checks impossible, ambiguous and mixed-format dates, invalid emails and email typos, phone digit counts, duplicate IDs and duplicate rows, blank cells in mostly filled columns, text in number columns, numbers stored as text, mixed decimal marks, leading/trailing spaces, IDs that lost leading zeros or became 1.2E+15, formula errors and row totals that do not add up. Optional rules: required_columns, unique_columns, allowed_values, ranges, total_rules. Returns each issue with row, column and cell value, counts per check, a column health score, an Excel copy with problem cells highlighted plus an Issues sheet, and an issues CSV. Does not edit or clean the data, does not verify that mailboxes or phone lines exist, and does not compare two files (use a comparison tool for that).

list_spreadsheet_columns

List spreadsheet columns

Use this when the user wants to see what is in a spreadsheet before validating it, or asks which columns, types or values it has: "what columns are in this file", "profile this csv", "which column is the ID", "suggest validation rules". Attach a CSV, TSV or .xlsx file or paste the table. Returns each column's letter, name, detected type (date, email, phone, ID, ZIP, number, money, percent, text), filled and blank counts, unique values, examples, min/max for numbers, short value lists, and suggested rules to pass to check_spreadsheet. Does not report errors (use check_spreadsheet) and does not change the file.
