Read Discord channels, follow new messages and control calls from your AI assistant.
Overview
A local MCP server that exposes the Discord desktop app's RPC, letting an assistant read channels, follow new messages and control voice calls.
- What you can do
- Get server, channel and DM information, and read channel messages with optional field selection. Check the current voice channel and voice settings. Subscribe to and read message and voice events. Switch text or voice channels, join or leave calls. Adjust audio settings and other participants' local volume, toggle camera and screen sharing. Set Rich Presence, handle activity join requests and set device information.
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to summarize or monitor Discord channels, follow incoming messages, or manage voice call state and audio from the desktop app. It relies on Discord's RPC capabilities, so things like searching past chats are not available.
- Requirements
- Runs locally on the desktop with the Discord desktop app. Needs Node.js 22+, npm and Git for the npx install, or an MCPB-capable client for the packaged file. An OS credential store is required to hold authorization tokens (Secret Service on Linux). Setup requires creating your own Discord application with Public Client enabled and entering its Client ID.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Discord RPC MCP in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

discord-rpc-mcp
A server that exposes the Discord desktop app's RPC through MCP. (Functionality follows Discord's RPC capabilities, so features such as searching past chats are not available.)
Ask it to read a channel, receive new messages, or turn down someone's volume in a call.
Setup
To store authorization tokens securely, an OS credential store is required (Secret Service on Linux).
With Node.js 22+, npm and Git installed, register the MCP with your agent client as follows.
Clients that support MCPB can install the .mcpb file from Releases.
Once the MCP is installed and enabled, tell your agent: Set up discord-rpc-mcp.
The setup tool opens a local page that guides you through creating your own Discord application, enabling Public Client and entering its Client ID.
For manual installation or detailed instructions, see the installation guide.

50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
- Tools listed15 pts
Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
