Overview

AI-generated overview

VicSee MCP server lets an AI assistant generate, edit and upscale AI video and images through VicSee models, with credit estimates and task polling.

What you can do
List available video and image models with their credit costs, and estimate the exact credits a generation would charge without creating anything. Generate video or images from text or image prompts with a chosen model. Upscale existing images and videos. Poll asynchronous tasks and retrieve the finished media URL. Check the account's credit balance.
When to use it
Use it when an assistant should produce AI video or image assets, upscale existing media, or compare model options and costs before spending credits, from clients such as Claude, Cursor or other MCP-compatible agents.
Requirements
A VicSee API key (starts with sk-) from the VicSee settings page, supplied as the VICSEE_API_KEY environment variable; API access requires a paid plan or credit pack. Runs as a remote endpoint or as a local npm package via npx, so Node.js is needed for the local option. An optional VICSEE_BASE_URL variable overrides the API base URL.
Before you install
Generations cost credits and require a paid plan or credit pack; use the estimate tool before generating. The API key is a secret passed in the environment. Generation and upscaling create tasks and spend credits, and result URLs are kept only 7 days, so media you want to keep must be downloaded.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Vicsee Mcp Server in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.vicseeai%2Fvicsee-mcp-server/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

VicSee MCP Server

Generate, edit, and upscale AI video & images from any agent — VicSee as a set of MCP tools.

Works with Hermes Agent, Claude (Desktop / Code), Cursor, OpenClaw, and any MCP-compatible client.

What your agent can do

ToolWhat it does
vicsee_list_modelsList available models (Seedance, Veo, Kling, FLUX, Nano Banana, …) + their credit costs
vicsee_estimateSame arguments as vicsee_generate; returns the exact credits it will charge and creates nothing
vicsee_generateText/image → video or image with a chosen model
vicsee_get_taskPoll a task and get the finished media URL (result.expires_at — URLs are kept 7 days; download what you want to keep)
vicsee_upscale_imageUpscale an image
vicsee_upscale_videoUpscale a video
vicsee_get_creditsCheck your credit balance

Generation is asynchronous: vicsee_generate (or vicsee_upscale_*) returns a task id immediately — your agent then polls vicsee_get_task until status is completed and reads the URL from result.url.

Setup

  1. Get an API key at vicsee.com → Settings → API (starts with sk-). API access requires a paid plan or credit pack.
  2. Add the server to your MCP client config with that key:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "vicsee": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "@vicsee/mcp-server"],      "env": { "VICSEE_API_KEY": "sk-your-key-here" }    }  }}

That's the whole setup — drop in your key, and your agent can generate.

Client config locations

  • Claude Desktop: claude_desktop_config.json → mcpServers
  • Cursor: Settings → MCP → add server (same command/args/env)
  • Hermes Agent / OpenClaw: add to the MCP servers section of your agent config
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add vicsee -e VICSEE_API_KEY=sk-... -- npx -y @vicsee/mcp-server

Optional env

  • VICSEE_BASE_URL — override the API base URL (defaults to https://vicsee.com/api/v1).

Local development

bash
pnpm installpnpm buildVICSEE_API_KEY=sk-... node dist/index.js # stdio server# or run from source: VICSEE_API_KEY=sk-... pnpm dev

Point your MCP client at the local build by using "command": "node", "args": ["/abs/path/to/dist/index.js"].

Example agent flow

"Make me a 5-second video of a kitten chasing a laser."

  1. vicsee_list_models (type: video) → pick e.g. seedance-2-5-text-to-video (up to 30s) or seedance-2-0-text-to-video (adds 1080p/4K)
  2. vicsee_generate (model, prompt, duration: 5) → { id, status: "pending" }
  3. vicsee_get_task (id) … poll … → { status: "completed", result: { url: "https://cdn.vicsee.com/…" } }

Notes

  • Result URLs are served from cdn.vicsee.com — stable VicSee CDN links.
  • Each generation costs credits; see vicsee_list_models for per-model costs and vicsee_get_credits for your balance.
