Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant capture screenshots of public webpages through the ScreenshotRun API and check the account's remaining quota.

What you can do
  • Capture a webpage as PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF, with viewport size, device presets, dark mode, retina, full-page and element-selector options
  • Modify the page before capture by injecting CSS or JavaScript, hiding elements, clicking or scrolling to a selector, and blocking ads or cookie banners
  • Check API usage for the current billing period, including screenshots used, remaining quota and days left
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to see or describe a live webpage, produce visual snapshots for review, or render pages in mobile, dark-mode or full-page variants without running a local browser.
Requirements
Runs locally via npx, so Node.js 18+ is needed. Requires a ScreenshotRun API key supplied in the SCREENSHOTRUN_API_KEY environment variable; a free key is available with a monthly screenshot allowance. Network access to the ScreenshotRun API is required.
Before you install
The API key is a billable credential stored in the client config; keep it out of shared files. Each capture is sent to the ScreenshotRun service, so the URLs you screenshot are disclosed to that third party. Injected JavaScript and CSS run against the target page, and captures consume the account's monthly quota.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Screenshotrun Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Example Prompts

  • "Take a screenshot of screenshotrun.com"
  • "Screenshot snapshotarchive.com in dark mode on mobile"
  • "Capture full-page screenshot of my website and describe what you see"
  • "Take a retina screenshot of screenshotrun.com in JPEG format"
  • "Screenshot snapshotarchive.com on tablet with ad blocking"
  • "Take a screenshot of my site with the cookie banner hidden using hide_selectors"
  • "Check my ScreenshotRun API usage"

How It Works

  1. Your AI agent receives a user request involving a webpage screenshot
  2. The agent calls the take_screenshot tool with the URL and options
  3. The MCP server sends the request to the ScreenshotRun API
  4. The API renders the page in a real browser and returns the screenshot
  5. The image is returned to the AI agent as base64, which it can analyze and describe
