When to use it
Useful when an assistant should produce short AI video clips on demand and you are willing to pay per generation in USDC rather than hold a subscription or API key. Free catalog, quote and polling tools also work without a wallet for price checking.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio via the npm package x402-video-mcp (Node.js with npx). Paid generation needs a dedicated spending wallet with USDC on Base, supplied as BUYER_PRIVATE_KEY; optional MAX_USD_PER_CALL and GATEWAY_URL variables. Network access to the gateway is required.
Before you install
BUYER_PRIVATE_KEY is a wallet private key that signs payments, so use a dedicated low-balance spending wallet, never a main one. Each generation spends real USDC; keep MAX_USD_PER_CALL low as a hard guard. Prompts are sent to a third-party gateway and screened before payment. Video links expire after 24 hours. The gateway is independent and not affiliated with model vendors.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open x402 Video — AI Video Generation (pay-per-call, no account) in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

x402-video MCP server

Give any MCP-capable agent (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, ...) the ability to generate AI videos and pay per call — USDC on Base over the x402 protocol. No accounts, no API keys, no credit cards.

Backed by x402video.com. Seedance 2.0, 5s 720p: Mini $0.67, Fast $1.05, Standard $1.33 per clip. Custom 4–15s with optional audio: Mini $0.26–$2.00 and Fast $0.40–$3.15 (480p/720p), Standard $0.49–$9.82 (up to 1080p). The exact USDC price is always the live 402 quote. Prompts are screened before payment; rejected requests are never charged.

Setup

You need a dedicated spending wallet with a few USDC on Base (8453). Never use your main wallet — see the 5-minute getting-started guide.

How payment works

  1. The tool POSTs your request unpaid; the gateway answers HTTP 402 with the exact USDC amount for that request (a free quote).
  2. If the quote is within MAX_USD_PER_CALL, the request is retried with an x402 payment header — an EIP-3009 signature, so the buyer pays no gas.
  3. You get a job_id; generation takes ~2 minutes (p50). Poll get_job, download video_url within 24h.

Content policy

Hard red lines (rejected pre-payment, never charged): content involving minors, real-person likeness/deepfakes. Sexually explicit content and graphic violence are rejected.
