A remote MCP server giving assistants dated, source-checked China travel facts for foreign visitors: attraction booking, hotel registration, payments and visa‑f
What you can do
Look up city-level facts for foreign travelers, including passport booking rules, official ticket channels, hotel registration and foreign card payments via Alipay or WeChat. Check how a foreigner books a specific attraction: real-name requirement, ticket release time, sell-out risk and the official channel. Check eligibility for China's 240-hour visa-free transit from nationality, entry port and onward ticket. Search the cities covered by the service and resolve a place to a city. Retrieve general playbooks on system-level pitfalls such as payment failures, eSIM versus VPN, phone-number requirements and the first hour after landing.
When to use it
Useful when planning or answering questions about travel to China as a foreign visitor, especially when you need current, dated guidance on booking attractions, hotel registration, payments or visa-free transit eligibility rather than general travel advice.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package installation, account, API key or environment variable is declared. Network access to the provider's endpoint is required.
Before you install
Answers are advisory travel information checked against official sources and dated, but rules can change; confirm booking, payment and visa details with official channels before relying on them. Queries about nationality, entry port and onward tickets are sent to the third-party provider.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.xiaopeng215-sys%2Ftravelerlocal/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Facts a foreign traveler needs for a Chinese city, checked against official sources and dated: which attractions need real-name/passport booking and when tickets release, official ticket channels (no resellers), whether hotels register foreign guests, whether foreign cards work via Alipay/WeChat, and honest local notes. Use for questions like 'how do I book X in <city>' or 'can foreigners stay in hotels in <city>'.

check_attraction_booking
How a foreigner books a specific Chinese attraction: real-name/passport requirement, ticket release time, whether it sells out, the OFFICIAL channel, and whether authorized resellers exist. Use for 'can foreigners book the Forbidden City / Terracotta Army / Mogao Caves and when do tickets release'.
Parametersattractionrequired
check_transit_eligibility
Whether a traveler qualifies for China's 240-hour visa-free TRANSIT (not the 30-day visa-free entry). Needs nationality, the entry port/city, and whether they have an onward ticket to a THIRD country/region. Returns eligibility, regional limits, and the defining conditions.
Search the cities TravelerLocal has guide pages for. Returns matching city names and page URLs. Use to discover coverage or resolve a place to a city.
Parametersqueryrequired
get_travel_playbook
TravelerLocal's stance, checked against official sources and dated, on the system-level things foreigners get wrong in China (not a specific place): paying when a foreign card fails, eSIM vs VPN and the firewall, the Chinese-phone-number wall, the first hour after landing, hotel foreigner-registration, and visa-free transit. Use for 'why does my card keep getting declined in China', 'do I need a VPN or an eSIM', 'do I need a Chinese phone number', 'what do I do when I land'.
