What you can do

Before you install
Each tool call costs 0.01 USDC, so real money is spent and the balance should be watched. The API key travels as a query parameter in the endpoint URL and may leak through config files or logs. Payment involves signing USDC transactions on the Base blockchain. Queries are sent to third-party providers such as Perplexity, Tavily and Semantic Scholar.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open xpay Content Research in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

xpay MCP Server

980+ AI tools available as MCP servers. Pay $0.01/call in USDC via the x402 protocol. One API key, 30+ providers — no individual provider accounts or subscriptions needed.

Quick Start

1. Get your API key

Sign up at app.xpay.sh and create an API key. Add credits to your wallet (USDC on Base).

2. Add to your MCP client

Claude Desktop / Cursor / Windsurf — add to your MCP config:

How x402 Works

x402 is an open protocol for machine-to-machine payments using HTTP 402 Payment Required. When a tool call requires payment:

  1. Server responds with 402 Payment Required + a payment invoice
  2. Client signs a USDC payment on Base blockchain
  3. Server verifies payment and executes the tool
  4. Settlement is instant, non-custodial, and peer-to-peer
