ShareBox
io.github.zalasov0.1.1Updated Oct 8, 2026
Publish the web tools your agent builds to a self-hosted ShareBox and share them like a Google Doc
Overview
Lets an assistant publish small web tools it builds to a self-hosted ShareBox instance and share them with people, a domain, or anyone with the link.
- What it does
- ShareBox is a self-hosted platform for publishing small web tools that visitors open like a shared document. Through the MCP server the assistant can read a build guide, create a project, publish or update a tool, list the tools it manages, inspect a tool's address, version and shares, and add or remove shares. There is deliberately no delete tool, so removal stays in the CLI behind a confirmation.
- When to use it
- Use it when you want an assistant to turn a small internal tool into a hosted, shareable web page on your own ShareBox instance, for example a team tracker or a simple dashboard. It fits teams that already run ShareBox and want publishing to happen from the agent instead of by hand.
- Requirements
- A running ShareBox instance (yours or your organization's) and Node.js 20 or newer; the package is npm sharebox-cli and runs locally over stdio. Sign-in is normally done once with sharebox login, which opens a browser for Google sign-in and stores a token in ~/.sharebox/credentials.json. On servers or in CI, set SHAREBOX_URL and SHAREBOX_TOKEN instead. Desktop only.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open ShareBox in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
sharebox-cli
Command line and MCP server for ShareBox, a self-hosted platform where AI agents publish small web tools and you share them like a Google Doc: with specific people, a whole Google Workspace domain, or anyone with the link. Visitors sign in with Google; every tool gets a trusted identity, its own storage and its own sandbox.
You need a running ShareBox instance (yours or your organization's). To set one up, see the install guide.
Install
Requires Node 20 or newer. Every ShareBox instance also serves its own copy at https://<instance>/cli/sharebox.tgz.
Connect
A browser opens: sign in with Google and click Authorize. The token is stored in ~/.sharebox/credentials.json. On servers or in CI you can set SHAREBOX_URL and SHAREBOX_TOKEN instead.
Use it from an agent (MCP)
Claude Code:
On Windows: claude mcp add --scope user sharebox -- cmd /c sharebox mcp.
Without a global install, other MCP clients can run npx -y sharebox-cli mcp (after npx sharebox-cli login <instance> once).
Tools: sharebox_guide, sharebox_create_project, sharebox_publish, sharebox_list, sharebox_info, sharebox_share, sharebox_unshare. There is deliberately no delete tool: deleting erases data, so it stays in the CLI behind a confirmation.
Then just ask: "Build a vacation tracker for my team and publish it on ShareBox."
Commands
Messages are in English or Italian, following SHAREBOX_LANG or the system locale.
