Render themed charts as hosted URLs. Embed in markdown, emails, and Slack. Hosted MCP, zero setup.
Overview
ChartOne lets an AI assistant render themed charts and return them as inline images plus hosted URLs for emails, Slack, PDFs and dashboards.
- What you can do
- Render a chart from an explicit type, data and theme, returning an inline image and a persistent hosted URL. Suggest a chart type and theme from data plus an intent such as showing quarterly trends, then render it. Use the resulting image or URL in markdown, emails, Slack messages, PDFs and dashboards.
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant needs to turn data into a shareable chart without local plotting setup, especially for chat messages, emails or documents that need a hosted image link.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local stdio process via the npm package @chartone/mcp, typically launched with npx, so Node.js is needed. An optional CHARTONE_API_KEY environment variable enables higher quota and no watermark; without it, anonymous mode works but charts are watermarked with a 7-day URL. A hosted HTTP endpoint is also offered in beta.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Chartone in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
@chartone/mcp
Branded chart rendering for AI agents. Hosted MCP, zero setup.
ChartOne MCP gives any AI agent the ability to produce themed charts and return them as both an inline image and a persistent hosted URL — perfect for emails, Slack messages, PDFs, and dashboards.
Install
Claude Desktop
Add to ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (macOS) or %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json (Windows):
Restart Claude Desktop. Anonymous mode (no key) returns watermarked charts.
Cursor / Zed / Windsurf
Same config shape, in each client's MCP settings file. See docs.chartone.dev/mcp for current paths.
Hosted endpoint (beta)
For cloud agents that can't run local stdio servers:
Tools
render_chart— render a chart from explicit type, data, theme.suggest_chart— give it data + intent ("show quarterly trends"), it picks the chart type/theme and renders.
Both return an inline image plus a persistent hosted URL.
