Overview

AI-generated overview

Official ImageKit developer server that lets an assistant search ImageKit documentation and build image and video transformation URLs from plain-language input.

What you can do
Search ImageKit documentation with semantic search to answer questions about the platform and its SDKs, plugins and widgets. Build ImageKit image or video transformation URLs from a natural-language description of the desired result.
When to use it
Useful when working with ImageKit media delivery and you want the assistant to look up current documentation or generate correct transformation URLs without signing in.
Requirements
Remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no sign-in, API keys, environment variables or headers are declared. Network access to the ImageKit endpoint is required.
Before you install
The server is read-only in effect: it searches docs and constructs URLs, and the README notes it needs no sign-in. The README also describes separate DAM and Admin servers that do require an ImageKit account and can change media and account settings; those are not this server.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open ImageKit DevTools in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.imagekit%2Fdevtools/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

ImageKit Skills

Reusable AI agent skills for ImageKit.io — install them with the skills CLI to enhance your coding agent's capabilities.

Skills

SkillDescription
mcp-preflightWhich MCP server to call: DAM (media library), Admin (origins, URL endpoints, usage analytics), or DevTools
search-assetsLucene searchQuery for DAM search_media_library — discover custom metadata and tags before guessing
upload-filesDAM uploads via create_upload_signatures_in_bulk (any number of files, from a shell) or the upload_file picker — never inline file bytes
asset-access-controlFile/folder vs media-collection ACL tools, and the write rules that are easy to get wrong
ai-tasksPayload shape for AI tagging, metadata extraction, and quality checks on DAM assets
search-docsHow to query DevTools search_docs (query rewriting and source selection)
transformation-builderHow to query DevTools transformation_builder for correct transformation URLs
imagekit-integrationsIndex of ImageKit SDKs, plugins, and widgets — pick the right one for a stack, then search the docs

Installation

There are two pieces to install: the skills (this repo) and the MCP servers:

MCP serverURLAuth
imagekit_devtoolshttps://devtools-mcp.imagekit.io/mcpNone
imagekit_damhttps://imagekit.io/mcp/damSign in with your ImageKit account
imagekit_adminhttps://imagekit.io/mcp/adminSign in with your ImageKit account

If you previously connected https://api-mcp.imagekit.io/mcp, remove it and add DAM and Admin instead.

What each server does:

ServerUse it to
DAMSearch, upload, organize, tag, share, and manage the media library
AdminManage origins (external storage), URL endpoints, account usage, and usage analytics
DevToolsSearch the docs and build transformation URLs (no sign-in)

Pick one of the two methods below. Restart your editor after installing so the MCP servers take effect. Authenticate DAM and Admin when prompted.

Plugin method (recommended)

On Claude Desktop, Claude.ai (web), and VS Code, the ImageKit plugin installs the skills and MCP servers in a single step.

Claude Desktop & Claude.ai (web)

  1. Open Customize in the left sidebar and go to the Plugins tab.
  2. Under Personal plugins, click + → Add marketplace → Add from a repository, and enter imagekit-developer/skills.
  3. Install the ImageKit plugin from that marketplace.
  4. Enable the bundled imagekit_devtools, imagekit_dam, and imagekit_admin connectors, and authenticate DAM and Admin when prompted.

VS Code

  1. Open the Command Palette (⇧⌘P) and run Install Plugin from Source.
  2. Enter imagekit-developer/skills as the plugin source.
  3. Restart VS Code.

Manual method

1. Install the skills (same command on every platform):

bash
npx skills add imagekit-developer/skills --all

2. Add the MCP servers for your tool:

Claude Code
bash
claude mcp add --transport http imagekit_devtools https://devtools-mcp.imagekit.io/mcpclaude mcp add --transport http imagekit_dam https://imagekit.io/mcp/damclaude mcp add --transport http imagekit_admin https://imagekit.io/mcp/admin
Claude Desktop

Edit your config file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
json

Or edit ~/.codex/config.toml:

toml

Cursor

Install with these buttons:

Or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

Windsurf

Edit ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json:

json

Usage

Once installed, these skills are automatically available to your AI agent. The agent will consult the relevant skill before performing ImageKit operations, ensuring correct tool usage and better results.
