Before you install
Requires the IMPORTLY_API_KEY secret, which should be kept out of shared configuration. Usage is billed in credits (downloads by size, transcription by media minute), so costs accrue and the balance can be checked. Media is downloaded to the provider's hosted storage and a direct link is returned, so content is sent to a third party.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Importly Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Importly MCP Server

Give your AI agent the ability to download, transcribe, and inspect any video or audio URL — YouTube, TikTok, X, podcasts, and 1000+ other sites.

Importly runs yt-dlp, rotating residential proxies, ffmpeg, and speech-to-text server-side, so your agent (and you) never deal with IP bans, 429s, cookie rot, or extractor breakage.
