Overview

AI-generated overview

Nexatron lets an assistant answer business questions in plain English by translating them to SQL across connected enterprise data sources.

What you can do
  • Ask questions in plain English and get answers with results, translated to SQL and run against your data sources
  • List data source connections, inspect their schemas, and test connectivity and latency
  • Detect schema drift by comparing the current schema with the last discovered one
  • List semantic-layer metrics and logical views, including certification status
  • Search knowledge bases of uploaded PDFs, docs and notes for business context
  • Review recent query conversations, fetch saved reports by ID, check credit balance and user info
When to use it
Useful when an assistant should answer business questions over databases such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake or BigQuery without hand-writing SQL, or when it needs governed metric definitions and business context from a knowledge base.
Requirements
Runs as a remote endpoint or as a local process via the PyPI package nexatron-mcp with uvx. Requires OAuth and a Nexatron API key (NEXATRON_API_KEY, starting with nxa_, created in the Nexatron app under Settings, API Keys). NEXATRON_URL optionally overrides the API base URL for self-hosted or staging environments.
Before you install
The API key grants access to your organization's data sources and knowledge bases, so treat it as a secret. Queries consume credits, which can be checked with get_credit_balance. Questions and retrieved content are sent to Nexatron's API, and results reflect whatever data the connected sources expose.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Nexatron in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.nexatron%2Fmcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

Tools

query

Query

Ask a question about your data in plain English. Nexatron translates your question into SQL, executes it against your data sources, and returns the answer with results. Examples: - "Show me total revenue by region for Q4" - "Which customers churned in the last 30 days?" - "Compare this month's sales to last month" - "Top 10 products by units sold"

Parametersquestionrequired

list_connections

List Connections

List all data source connections. Shows connection name, type (PostgreSQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.), and current health status.

Takes no parameters.

get_schema

Get Schema

Get the database schema for a connection. Shows all tables and their columns with data types. Use list_connections first to get the connection_id.

Parametersconnection_idrequired

test_connection

Test Connection

Test connectivity to a data source. Verifies that Nexatron can reach the database and returns latency.

Parametersconnection_idrequired

detect_schema_drift

Detect Schema Drift

Detect schema changes (drift) for a connection. Compares the current database schema to the last discovered schema and reports added/removed columns and type changes.

Parametersconnection_idrequired

list_metrics

List Metrics

List all metrics in the semantic layer. Shows metric name, SQL expression, type, and certification status. Certified metrics have verified, governed definitions.

Takes no parameters.

list_views

List Views

List logical views in the semantic layer. Logical views are virtual tables that combine physical tables with business context and computed columns.

Takes no parameters.

search_knowledge_base

Search Knowledge Base

Search across knowledge bases using natural language. Finds relevant document chunks from uploaded PDFs, docs, and notes. Useful for finding business context, definitions, or policies. top_k is 1-100. A chunk longer than max_chars (default 500) is shown up to that length and labelled as an excerpt with both lengths, its chunk_id and its document_id. max_chars=null returns full chunks.

Parametersqueryrequiredtop_kmax_chars

list_conversations

List Conversations

List recent query conversations. Shows your recent natural language queries and timestamps.

Parameterslimit

get_report

Get Report

Get a saved report by ID. Returns the report title, description, type, and definition.

Parametersreport_idrequired

get_credit_balance

Get Credit Balance

Check your remaining query credits. Shows current balance, period dates, and usage status.

Takes no parameters.

whoami

Whoami

Show your Nexatron user info and tenant. Returns your email, roles, and organization name.

Takes no parameters.
