Keyless remote MCP server for live Earth and sky data: earthquakes, ISS position, weather, moon phase and stargazing conditions.
What you can do
Check stargazing usability: score each night hour for cloud cover and moon illumination, with the best usable run
Get sky details for a place and time: sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, moon phase and dark windows
Query earthquakes: recent USGS events by window, magnitude and place, plus stateful subscriptions that poll only new events
Read weather and space data: current weather and 12-hour forecast for a coordinate, current ISS position, and a one-shot Earth summary
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to answer practical sky and Earth questions — whether tonight is worth going out for stargazing, when the moon rises, what quakes happened recently, or where the ISS is — without signing up for API keys.
Requirements
Remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no packages, environment variables, headers or authentication declared. Upstream data comes from USGS and Open-Meteo, so network access is needed.
Before you install
Earthquake subscriptions are stored server-side, so creating and deleting them changes state on the remote service. Data is relayed from third-party feeds (USGS, Open-Meteo); when a feed is unreachable the tool reports an error instead of data.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.sslip.13-62-217-51%2Fearth-and-sky/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Is tonight actually usable for stargazing or astrophotography? Combines real dark hours and true moon illumination (computed from first principles) with live hourly cloud cover, weighting low cloud above high cloud. Returns a 0-100 usability score per night hour, the best consecutive usable run, and a plain verdict. lat/lon required; tz_offset and when optional.

watch
Stateful quake subscriptions. Unlike a local tool, the filter and its cursor are stored on the server, so poll returns ONLY events newer than your last poll - no re-scanning, no client-side dedupe. Actions: create (min_magnitude, place), poll (id), list, delete (id).
Recent earthquakes from USGS. Filter by window (hour/day/week/month), minimum magnitude, and place text. Returns magnitude, place, depth, time.
Parameterslimitplacewindowmin_magnitude
weather
Current weather and the next 12 hours for a latitude/longitude, from Open-Meteo. No API key required.
Parameterslatituderequiredlongituderequired
iss_position
Current latitude/longitude of the International Space Station.
Takes no parameters.
earth_now
One-shot summary of what is happening on Earth right now: 24h earthquake totals plus current ISS position.
Takes no parameters.
sky_tonight
Real sky for a place and night: sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, true moon phase and illumination, and the best dark window for stargazing. Computed from first principles (no key, no ephemeris file).
Parameterslatrequiredlonrequiredwhentz_offset
moon_phase
Current (or given date's) moon phase and illumination for a location.
Parameterslatlonwhen
sky_at
The real sky for a place and an instant: sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, true moon phase and illumination, and the best dark window for stargazing. Pure astronomy, no API key.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
