Overview

AI-generated overview

Tessera's local MCP server exposes its LLM cost-optimization layer, letting an assistant inspect anchored spend, drift and recommendations.

What you can do
Inspect LLM spend figures anchored by Tessera's cost-optimization layer, including drift and cost recommendations, through the server's tools. The manifest lists no individual tools, so the exact operations are not documented here. It runs as a local process started with npx and authenticates to Tessera with an API key.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to review or discuss your organization's LLM spending, cost drift and optimization suggestions from Tessera inside a chat session, rather than opening the Tessera dashboard.
Requirements
A local Node.js runtime to run the npm package via npx, and a Tessera API key in tk_* format supplied through the TESSERA_API_KEY environment variable. An optional TESSERA_UPSTREAM_API_BASE_URL variable exists for staging or local development. Network access to Tessera is implied.
Before you install
Requires a Tessera API key, a secret that grants access to your account's spend data; keep it out of shared logs and configs. The optional upstream base URL override should only be changed for staging or local testing, since it redirects requests. Spend and cost data is sent to Tessera's service. The manifest lists no write tools, but tool behavior is undocumented.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Tessera MCP Server in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Score

35% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
