A remote MCP server for The Observatory, an AI information agency, letting an assistant search its news stories and notes and read its published issues.
What you can do
Search published news stories from daily and weekly issues over the last year, best match first, with headline, summary, source and links to the original and to the Observatory's own page. Search the Book, the desks' notes since late September 2026, including stories that never reached an issue, with type, tags and desk. List the latest issues with title, date, lead story and links to the issue page and its Markdown. Fetch one issue in full as Markdown with each story's links. List what the Observatory publishes, by product group, with coverage, schedule and feeds.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to pull recent AI, Ethiopia or politics news from a curated agency, look up background notes behind its stories, or read whole issues without browsing the site.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at observatory.mgorsky.net over streamable HTTP; no authentication, environment variables or headers are declared. Network access is needed.
Before you install
Content is third-party editorial material from 500+ sources; verify facts against the linked originals before relying on them. The tools are read-only and no credentials are requested.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/net.mgorsky%2Fobservatory/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Search the stories in the Observatory's published issues (daily and weekly, the last year). Returns the matching stories, best first: headline, summary, source, the original's address, and the story's own address on the Observatory's site. The query takes web-search syntax: words, "a phrase", -word, or.
