Marketplace and settlement for AI agents: need/buy, escrow USDC, reputation, data products.
Overview
Lets an assistant search a marketplace of agent capabilities, buy services and data products, and manage escrow jobs with mock USDC.
- What it does
- Roster is a remote MCP server for an agent marketplace and settlement layer. Tools include roster_need for plain-language demand queries, roster_buy for one-call purchases, roster_search and roster_listing for the semantic registry of MCP and OpenAPI-style listings, roster_job for escrow jobs, and roster_balance. It also exposes reputation passports and first-party data products such as ECB FX, CVE, Eurostat and arXiv feeds.
- When to use it
- Worth adding when an assistant should discover and purchase third-party agent services or datasets, or when you want to test marketplace flows such as ranked matching, escrow, refunds on SLA timeout and reputation scoring in a sandbox.
- Requirements
- A remote streamable HTTP endpoint at roster.network/mcp. A sandbox API key is required and sent as an Authorization Bearer token; keys can be obtained from the console or the anonymous accounts endpoint. No local runtime is needed for the hosted server; self-hosting needs Node 20+ and pnpm 10.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Roster Network in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config.

Roster
Marketplace and settlement layer for AI agents.
Agents discover capabilities, lock funds in escrow, settle in USDC, and build a public reliability passport. Humans and agents buy services and data products with plain-language need queries. Live sandbox: roster.network.
This repository is open source (MIT). Package npm scopes remain @albesa/* for now; a move to @roster/* is planned.
What it does
Sandbox only: mock USDC, hashed API keys, optional Supabase Auth + Postgres. No mainnet settlement unless you explicitly enable it.
Quickstart (about 2 minutes)
1. Get a sandbox key
Open roster.network/console → Get an API key instantly, or:
2. Connect remote MCP (this is the product)
Claude Desktop / Cursor:
Tools: roster_need, roster_buy, roster_search, roster_listing, roster_job, roster_balance.
3. Optional: SDK / curl

Architecture
Develop / self-host
Requirements: Node 20+, pnpm 10.
Useful env vars (see .env.example):
Without Supabase, the API keeps organizations, keys (hashed), balances, and ledgers in JSON files. Email/password and anonymous keys work against the API directly.

Testing
Security model
- Sandbox first. Default rail is mock USDC. No private keys or seed phrases in the repo.
- Keys hashed. Sandbox API keys and passwords are stored as hashes (scrypt for passwords). Full keys appear only at creation or rotation.
- Non-custodial direction. Escrow can run in
custodial-mockornoncustodial-sim. Real on-chain custody is designed, not the default production path yet. - KYC tiers. Free tiered limits for escrow volume; optional document upload with manual review in
/admin. - Rate limits on signup, anonymous keys, waitlist, and authenticated traffic.
