Overview

AI-generated overview

SocialHive lets an assistant draft, schedule and publish social posts across platforms, generate AI copy and images, and read cross-channel analytics.

What you can do
  • List connected social accounts and channels with their ids and health
  • Create, schedule, publish and inspect posts, including per-channel variants and metrics
  • Generate brand-voice copy, adapt posts to other platforms, and generate images
  • Browse, import from a URL, or upload media assets to attach to posts
  • Read content sources such as RSS feeds and sitemaps for raw material
  • Manage long-form articles and publish them to connected sites such as WordPress or Ghost
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to run social publishing end to end: turning source material or drafts into platform-specific posts, scheduling them, and checking performance, or when you want long-form articles pushed to a connected blog or CMS.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; no local install. Requires a SocialHive workspace account and an API key sent as an Authorization Bearer header, generated in the SocialHive dashboard. Network access to the SocialHive platform is needed.
Before you install
The API key is a workspace credential and grants access to connected social accounts and publishing; keep it out of shared configs. Publishing, scheduling and article publishing write to live channels and sites, and approval policy may still route posts to pending_approval. Some tools are metered: generate_text, adapt_post and hq image generation consume credits, and article creation is capped per month. Uploaded media and imported URLs are stored in the workspace library.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open SocialHive in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/pro.socialhive%2Fplatform/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Add this to your client's mcpServers config.

Authentication

All requests to the SocialHive MCP server require a workspace API key:

  • Header: Authorization: Bearer shp_<your_api_key>
  • You can generate your API key in SocialHive Dashboard > Settings > API Keys (https://socialhive.pro/app/settings/api).

Client Setup

1. Claude Desktop (claude_desktop_config.json)

Add the following to your Claude Desktop configuration file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "socialhive": {      "url": "https://platform.socialhive.pro/api/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer shp_YOUR_API_KEY"      }    }  }}

2. Cursor / Windsurf / Cline / VS Code

In your client's MCP configuration file (e.g. .cursor/mcp.json or Cline MCP settings):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "socialhive": {      "type": "streamable-http",      "url": "https://platform.socialhive.pro/api/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer shp_YOUR_API_KEY"      }    }  }}

3. Programmatic Usage (TypeScript SDK)

typescript
import { Client } from "@modelcontextprotocol/sdk/client/index.js";import { StreamableHttpClientTransport } from "@modelcontextprotocol/sdk/client/streamableHttp.js";
const transport = new StreamableHttpClientTransport(  new URL("https://platform.socialhive.pro/api/mcp"),  {    headers: {      Authorization: "Bearer shp_YOUR_API_KEY",    },  });
const client = new Client({ name: "my-agent", version: "1.0.0" }, { capabilities: {} });await client.connect(transport);
const tools = await client.listTools();console.log("Connected to SocialHive MCP! Available tools:", tools.tools.map(t => t.name));

Publishing to the Official MCP Registry

1. Install mcp-publisher

bash
brew install mcp-publisher

2. Validate

bash
mcp-publisher validate

3. Authenticate

  • Domain Verification (for pro.socialhive/platform):
    bash
    mcp-publisher login domain --domain socialhive.pro
  • GitHub Verification (if using io.github.<user>/socialhive):
    bash
    mcp-publisher login github

4. Publish

bash
mcp-publisher publish

5. Check Registry Listing

bash
curl -s "https://registry.modelcontextprotocol.io/v0.1/servers?search=socialhive"
