A real clock for AI agents: current time, timezone conversion, and DST facts from the IANA tzdb.

Overview

AI-generated overview

A public, read-only remote MCP server that gives an assistant accurate current times, timezone conversions and daylight-saving facts for cities worldwide.

What you can do
Get the current local time in up to 50 cities, timezones or coordinates at once, with a cited source page per answer. Convert a UTC instant or a wall time from one place into local times in up to 50 target locations, DST-safe. Resolve the timezone and local time for a latitude/longitude pair. Report whether a place observes daylight saving, its next clock change and all transitions within a year. Look up cities by multilingual, diacritic-insensitive name to get a canonical slug, IANA zone and coordinates.
When to use it
Useful whenever an assistant has to state the time somewhere, schedule across timezones, or answer daylight-saving questions, since models often get timezone math and DST rules wrong. Good for scheduling, travel planning and any task where a cited, live time source matters.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; no package, account or API key. Connect the client to the server URL with no authentication. Network access is required, and per-IP rate limits apply.
Before you install
Read-only with no write operations, accounts or sign-in, and queries are described as computed in memory and not stored. Location queries and coordinates are still sent to a third-party service, so check its privacy policy before use. Rate limits can return errors under heavy use.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Time in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/pro.worldclock%2Ftime/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

World Clock Pro MCP server

Give your AI agent a real clock. Public, read-only, no API key:

https://worldclock.pro/mcp

Models cannot reliably compute local times, DST transitions, or timezone math on their own. This server gives any MCP-capable assistant live answers from the IANA timezone database and a 224,000+ city registry, with the answer's source page cited in every response.

Quick connect

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add --transport http worldclockpro-time https://worldclock.pro/mcp

Claude Desktop — Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the URL.

Cursor — paste into ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or use the button on worldclock.pro/mcp):

json
{ "mcpServers": { "worldclockpro-time": { "url": "https://worldclock.pro/mcp" } } }

VS Code

bash
code --add-mcp '{"name":"worldclockpro-time","type":"http","url":"https://worldclock.pro/mcp"}'

ChatGPT — Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings → enable Developer mode → create a connector with the URL and No authentication. The server is read-only, so it works on plans where custom connectors are limited to read-only tools.

OpenClaw — add to openclaw.json:

json
{ "mcp": { "servers": { "worldclockpro-time": { "url": "https://worldclock.pro/mcp", "transport": "streamable-http" } } } }

MCP Inspector

bash
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector# Transport: "Streamable HTTP" → URL: https://worldclock.pro/mcp

Tools

ToolWhat it doesTry asking
get_current_timeCurrent time in one or many places (up to 50 at once)."What time is it in Tokyo, Paris, and UTC?"
convert_timeMove one moment across time zones, DST-safe."If it's 9 AM Monday in New York, what time is it in Sydney?"
time_by_coordinatesTime at any point on Earth, by latitude/longitude."What's the local time at 48.85, 2.35?"
get_dst_transitionsDST observance and exact clock-change dates for any year."When do the clocks change in London this year?"
search_citiesMultilingual city lookup → canonical slug, IANA zone, coordinates."Find cities called 'San Jose'."

Every result includes a source_url linking the matching worldclock.pro page, so answers can cite a live source.

Ways to describe a place

  • City name or alias — "Tokyo", "new-york", "nyc", "Москва", "São Paulo"
  • Timezone — IANA id ("America/New_York") or abbreviation ("PST", "ET", "UTC")
  • Coordinates — latitude + longitude; the answer names the nearest city

Use as a Claude Code plugin

This repo is itself a plugin marketplace:

/plugin marketplace add worldclockpro/worldclock-mcp/plugin install world-clock@worldclockpro

The plugin wires up the remote MCP server and installs the world-clock skill, which teaches the assistant when to use which tool and the classic timezone traps (EST vs ET, half-hour offsets, date-line weekday changes).

Use as an OpenClaw skill

The same skill follows the Agent Skills format:

bash
npx clawhub@latest install world-clock # once published on ClawHub# or copy skills/world-clock/ into your skills directory

Why trust it

  • Read-only by design. Every tool declares readOnlyHint: true. There are no write operations, no accounts, and nothing to sign in for.
  • No tracking. Queries are computed in memory and not stored. See the privacy policy.
  • Live IANA data. DST rules come from the IANA timezone database, updated with the weekly data refresh, never hard-coded.
  • Run by an established team. The people behind the World Clock Master (Apple Editor's Choice) and World Clock Pro apps.
  • Domain-verified. The registry listing pro.worldclock/time is published with cryptographic proof of control of worldclock.pro.

Limits and errors

  • Up to 50 locations per call (search_cities returns up to 25 matches).
  • Per-IP rate limit: 60 calls per 10 seconds (HTTP 429 with Retry-After beyond that).
  • Invalid input returns structured errors (LOCATION_NOT_FOUND, INVALID_TIMEZONE, AMBIGUOUS_INSTANT, ...) an agent can read and recover from.

get_current_time

Get current time

Get the current local time (or the time at a given instant) in one or more locations. Each location is a city name, an IANA timezone / abbreviation, or coordinates. Up to 50 locations. Results include a source_url linking the matching worldclock.pro page when available.

Parametersatlocationsrequired

convert_time

Convert a time across locations

Given a UTC instant (or a wall time in a source location), return the corresponding local time in each of up to 50 target locations. Results include a source_url linking the matching worldclock.pro page when available.

Parametersutcfromtargetsrequired

time_by_coordinates

Get time by coordinates

Resolve the timezone for a latitude/longitude coordinate (via geo-tz) and return the local time there.

Parametersatlatituderequiredlongituderequired

get_dst_transitions

Get DST transitions

Report whether a location observes daylight saving time, the next clock change, and every summer/winter-time transition (date, local time, and before/after offset) within a year. The result includes a source_url linking the matching worldclock.pro page when available.

Parametersyearlocationrequired

search_cities

Search cities

Find cities by name (multilingual, diacritic-insensitive) — useful to resolve a place to a canonical slug, IANA timezone, and coordinates before calling the time tools. Each result includes a source_url linking the city's worldclock.pro page.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
