Overview

AI-generated overview

Searches UK grant schemes and funders, returning deadlines, award ranges, eligibility and official guidance links.

What you can do
  • Search open, rolling and forthcoming UK grant schemes, sorted soonest deadline first, with funder, status, award range, location, eligibility and links
  • Read a single scheme's public facts by its OpenGrant id, including recently closed ones
  • Look up a UK funder's profile by slug, charity or company number, with register details, income, 360Giving totals and its schemes
  • Count schemes matching optional filters and get a link to the matching website search
  • List and read a few fixed showcase grants whose full record, criteria and contacts are public
When to use it
Useful when helping someone find UK funding: identifying suitable grant schemes by deadline, award size or eligibility, checking a funder's profile, or gauging how many schemes match a set of criteria.
Requirements
Remote streamable HTTP endpoint at opengrant.co.uk; no packages, environment variables or headers declared. Network access to the endpoint is needed.
Before you install
Read-only lookup tools; no writes or credentials are requested. Grant facts come from a third party and should be checked against the official guidance link before relying on them, and showcase grants are fixed examples rather than live search results.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open OpenGrant UK grants in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/uk.co.opengrant%2Fopengrant/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

search_grants

Search open, rolling and forthcoming UK grant schemes (deadline not yet passed) and return their public facts, soonest deadline first: funder, status, deadline, award range, where it applies, who can apply, the official guidance link and OpenGrant's canonical URL. Results are sorted soonest deadline first. Use closes_before for 'closing this month' questions. These are the same free facts listed in https://opengrant.co.uk/llms-full.txt; detailed criteria and application steps are on the funder's own guidance page (officialGuidanceUrl). Always tell users to confirm deadlines and eligibility there before applying. Set include_recently_closed to also find schemes that closed in the last 90 days (e.g. to answer 'what was the deadline for X'). `deadline` is a UK date (YYYY-MM-DD) when the source gave no time, otherwise an ISO instant; `deadlineUk` is the same in words. Page through results with offset; `total` is the full count.

get_grant

Read the public facts for one grant scheme by its OpenGrant id (the UUID in https://opengrant.co.uk/opportunities/{id}). Works for open, forthcoming and recently closed schemes; a scheme whose deadline has passed is reported as closed.

get_funder

Read a UK funder's public profile: type, charity or company number, website, register description and income, published 360Giving totals, its open, rolling and forthcoming schemes and its recently closed ones, each with its URL. Look a funder up by OpenGrant slug (from a funderUrl), UK charity number, or name (returns the closest matches if there is more than one).

Parametersnameslugcharity_number

count_matching_grants

Count open, rolling and forthcoming UK grant schemes matching optional filters, with the same rules as search_grants. Returns a number and a link to the matching search on the website. Use search_grants to see the schemes themselves.

Parametersqthemeregionorganisationcloses_before

list_example_grants

List up to three showcase grants whose full record (summary, criteria and contacts) is public. These are fixed examples, not search results; use search_grants to find schemes.

Parameterslimit

get_example_grant
