Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server giving assistants UK Thai restaurant data from FSA inspections: hygiene ratings, city statistics and postcode search.

What you can do
  • Search and look up named Thai venues by city, area or postcode radius, with address, rating and inspection date
  • Get aggregate city or UK-wide statistics: venue counts by type, venues per 100k residents and mean hygiene ratings
  • Rank cities by venue count, mean rating or density, and profile hygiene rating distributions for a city, local authority or postcode district
  • Retrieve one venue's full record by FSA establishment id, including inspection age and percentile within its city
  • Look up statutory steps for opening a food business in the UK, with the responsible local authority and official links
When to use it
Useful when someone asks about Thai restaurants in a UK city or near a postcode, wants hygiene ratings or city comparisons, or asks what is needed to open a food business in a given area. It is a single dated snapshot, so it is not suited to trend or market-size questions.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package, environment variable or header is declared. The manifest declares no authentication.
Before you install
Data comes from a single dated FSA snapshot, so ratings and counts may be stale and no trends are available. Rating rankings exclude Scottish areas and small samples can top them. The server holds no cost, rent, delivery, booking or opening-hours data, so those answers are incomplete.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open ThaiData UK in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/uk.thaidata%2Fmcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

get_city_stats

City statistics

Aggregate Thai-venue figures for one UK city/area, or up to five side by side. Use for totals and density, not for named venues. Returns venue count split by type, venues per 100k residents, and hygiene figures - a mean FHRS rating with the number rated, or FHIS pass/improvement counts for Scotland. Scottish venues have no numeric score and are never averaged. Counts cover venues identified in FSA data, so they are a floor.

Parameterscitycities

search_restaurants

Search venues by city

Lists named Thai venues in a city or area. Use when the user wants specific places rather than totals. Filters: business type, minimum FHRS rating (0-5, integers only). Returns name, address, postcode, rating, last inspection date and the total number of matches. Omitting city searches the whole UK by rating. No phone, opening hours, menu, booking or ordering data is held.

Parameterscitytypelimitmin_rating

find_nearby

Find venues near a postcode

Thai venues within a straight-line radius of a UK postcode. Use when the user gives a postcode or a place rather than a city name. Returns venues with great-circle distance in miles, rating and address; road distance will always be longer than the figure returned. No delivery, booking or opening-hours data.

Parameterstypelimitradiuspostcoderequiredmin_rating

get_uk_overview

UK totals

UK-wide totals for Thai venues in FSA data: venue count with the dine-in, takeaway and pub-kitchen split, number of city/area rows, mean FHRS rating with the number rated, and the date of the snapshot. Single dated snapshot - there is no trend, growth or market-size figure.

Takes no parameters.

rank_cities

City league table

Order city/area rows by Thai venue count, mean FHRS rating or venues per 100k residents. Use for 'which city has the most or the best'. Rating ranking excludes Scottish areas, which report Pass/Improvement Required instead of a score, and rows with small samples can top it - each row returns n so the sample can be judged. Names are dataset area names, which are sometimes councils rather than towns.

Parameterslimitmetricrequired

get_hygiene_profile

Hygiene profile

Food hygiene profile for Thai venues in a city, a local authority or a postcode district: the distribution of FHRS ratings 0-5 with mean and counts, or FHIS pass/improvement counts in Scotland, plus how old the inspections are. Use for 'how hygienic are Thai places in X' or 'are these ratings out of date'. Returns counts and dates only - no composite score, and hygiene is not food quality.

Parameterscityoutcodelocal_authority

get_opening_requirements

Opening requirements

Statutory steps for opening a food business in the UK, with the responsible local authority for a given city and official GOV.UK links. Use for 'what do I need to open a Thai restaurant in X'. This server holds no cost, rent, fit-out or equipment figures, so none are returned - the answer is requirements and links, not a budget.

Parameterscity

get_venue

Single venue record

Full record for one venue by its FSA establishment id, with context: days since the last inspection, whether the inspection date is known, the rating scheme, and where the venue's rating sits within its city (percentile among rated peers). Use when the user asks about a specific named venue. The returned fsa_url opens the official FSA record.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
