Every company carries its age (age_years, age_band, age_basis: whole years on the day of the answer since the founding date, else the registration date; none for Switzerland and Japan, whose registers publish no founding date, and none for Germany, which serves no founding date; in an LEI layer the date is the entity creation date GLEIF holds, which can be later than the start of the company) and its industry in several vocabularies: the NACE class with its English title (nace_title), the same activity as a NACE Rev. 2 and a NACE Rev. 2.1 class or division, the ISIC Rev. 4 class and the US NAICS 2022 sector and subsector, through the official correspondence tables of Eurostat, the United Nations and the US Census Bureau: a class only where the table links exactly one, the division where the linked classes share one, otherwise null.
Officer/director data is held for Spain, France, the UK, Norway and Poland (Polish natural persons are masked by the register itself). Ireland is company-level for now. Ireland, Poland and Norway have register-change events only, from 14 Oct 2026 (no gazette). Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Latvia, Cyprus, Romania, Lithuania, Canada, Australia, Japan, Israel, Singapore, Colombia, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Serbia, Ecuador, Brazil and the United States are company records only, with register-change events (name, status, legal form and registered address; share capital for Croatia; for Ukraine name, status, legal form and share capital, no registered address; for Serbia name, status, legal form and the municipality as the address; for Ecuador name, status, legal form and the canton as the address, no share capital; dated when the change first appears in the register data (for the United States, the weekly read of the registers that first sees it), not gazette notices, none before 2026-09-30) and monitoring, but no officers and no registry-compliance signal. Corporate insolvency notices are linked by business ID (Finland), organisationsnummer (Sweden), MBS (Croatia), CVR number (Denmark) and UID (Switzerland, where the SHAB notice names the debtor's UID): Swedish notices are Bolagsverket's procedure data (konkurs, företagsrekonstruktion, ackordsförhandling), updated weekly, with no court, case number or link; Croatian notices are court decisions with court and case number where the register states them, only for companies still on the register; Danish notices come from CVR credit information (konkurs and tvangsakkord): one notice per proceeding, dated by the decision that opened it, with the latest stage of the proceeding, with no court or case number. Spanish notices are the concurso entries (declaration, opening of the liquidation phase, conclusion) published in BORME since 2009, one per court resolution, linked by NIF and dated by the court's resolution date with the BORME publication date alongside (a median of about ten weeks later, sometimes more than a year); legal entities with a NIF only, judge and administrator never served, and an entry that cannot be tied to the company, or whose NIF is an administrator's, is withheld. Latvian notices are the Insolvency Register's insolvency and legal protection proceedings, an opening notice and a closing notice each, since 2008, with court and case number where stated, linked by registration number, legal persons of the commercial register only, updated daily. Estonian notices are bankruptcy declarations from the e-Business Register, one per register entry, dated by the entry (a few days after the court's order), linked by registry code, with no court, case number, trustee or closing notice, for companies still on the register, in liquidation or in bankruptcy only (a floor), sole traders (FIE) never served. Belgium and Slovakia have no insolvency notices (their bankruptcy shows in the company status and in their register-change events). Sole traders (enskild näringsverksamhet, trgovac pojedinac), enterprises of natural persons (eenmanszaak / entreprise individuelle), sole proprietorships (enkeltmandsvirksomhed) and estates are never served; Denmark has no share capital, and its status includes the register's bankruptcy state. Switzerland, Latvia and Cyprus have no activity code (Cyprus, Romania, Lithuania, Canada, Australia, Japan, Israel, Singapore, Colombia, Taiwan, Czech Republic and Brazil have no insolvency notices; Latvian individual merchants, Cypriot trade names and partnerships and Romanian natural persons and sole traders are never served; Cyprus has no VAT number; Romania has no share capital and its VAT number is built from the CUI by rule), and its sole proprietorships and other natural persons are never served. Every company object carries vat_number and vat_number_source (published by the register, or built from the identifier by rule where the registration is not confirmed; null for the UK, Ireland, Slovakia, Cyprus, the United States, Canada, Japan, Israel, Brazil, Colombia and Singapore). United States (country=US): company records from the business registers of New York, Colorado, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Iowa, the District of Columbia and Texas (state open data and public records) plus SEC filers (EDGAR) and LEI holders (GLEIF) from every state, Delaware included, as one record per state registration (NY-4424185, CIK-0000320193, LEI-…); New York, Pennsylvania and Iowa active entities only; updated weekly; no officers and no registry-compliance signal, with register-change events (dated by the weekly read) and monitoring; no VAT number; US insolvency notices are not linked to the company records; sole proprietorships never served; not every US company. ASIC does not separate liquidation from administration, so external administration shows as in_administration and there is no in_liquidation status; there are no insolvency notices. No activity code or share capital. The VAT number is the ABN when the ABN is active and registered for GST; an ABN is searchable with abn= and a GST-registered one with vat=. For your own credits — 14-day free trial: 500 credits; a card is required, nothing is charged for 14 days — sign up at https://www.prometiam.com/signup?utm_source=mcp and set the key as an environment variable:
Hosted endpoint (no install)
The same 36 tools are served over Streamable HTTP at https://api.prometiam.com/functions/v1/mcp: no npx and no local process. Send your own key as Authorization: Bearer rk_live_... (X-API-Key works too). With no key it runs in demo mode on the shared demo key (30 requests a minute and 2,000 calls a day for everyone, the quota the npx demo shares); in demo mode some tools, such as sanctions_screen and events_search, answer upgrade_required. The endpoint holds no data and no secret: each tool call is one API request, priced in credits like the REST call (sanctions screening is beta). Your own key works only from a client that can send a request header.
Claude Code:
Cursor (.cursor/mcp.json in the project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json):
VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json; the key is servers, and the prompt keeps the key out of the file):
Windsurf (mcp_config.json):
claude.ai and ChatGPT connectors: not yet. They need OAuth sign-in, which the hosted endpoint does not offer yet.
Use with Claude Desktop
Edit ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (macOS) or %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json (Windows):
That config runs on the shared demo key, no signup. To use your own key, add "env": { "PROMETIAM_API_KEY": "rk_live_..." } next to args (an empty value or the placeholder rk_live_your_key_here is ignored and the demo key is used).
Restart Claude Desktop. The 36 tools appear in the tool list. Try:
"What's the Prometiam coverage today?" "Search for companies named Mercadona in Spain." "Run a sanctions screen on the name Juan Perez at threshold 85." "Build a corporate-event timeline for Inditex."
Use with Cursor
Edit .cursor/mcp.json in your project (or globally at ~/.cursor/mcp.json):
Use with Continue
Add to ~/.continue/config.json under experimental.modelContextProtocolServers:
Use with any other MCP client
Anything that speaks MCP over stdio works. Run the binary; set PROMETIAM_API_KEY in the environment only when you have your own key. JSON-RPC requests on stdin, responses on stdout, logs on stderr.
Environment variables
Smoke test
Once installed and configured, you can verify the server lists tools without spinning up an MCP client:
You should see a JSON-RPC response with all 36 tools and their schemas.
Rate limits & pricing
Per Prometiam tier (returned in every response's meta.rate_limit). Every successful call costs credits (0 for account and coverage, 1 for a company search or record, 2 for corporate events, people, director network, insolvency and procurement, 3 for a sanctions screen per name, 25 for one company's financial statements); errors cost nothing, and each response states its cost in the X-Credits-Cost header:
Privacy and data residency
- All requests hit the Prometiam Risk API in EU (AWS eu-central-1, Frankfurt).
- The MCP server adds no telemetry of its own — it just forwards requests to the API.
- Officer data is processed under GDPR Article 6(1)(c) (legal obligation of public registries) and 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in fraud prevention).
- Mostly read-only. The mutating tools are
monitor_subscribe,monitor_stop,sanctions_watchandsanctions_unwatch(create or delete a monitoring subscription or a sanctions watchlist entry tied to your key); every other tool is read-only.
