PublicWWW
com.publicwwwv1.0.1Updated Oct 8, 2026
Search the source code (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) of hundreds of millions of websites.
Overview
Lets an assistant search the page source code of hundreds of millions of websites for scripts, libraries, tracking IDs, and widgets.
- What it does
- PublicWWW exposes a remote MCP server with two read-only tools: search, which queries the HTML, JavaScript, and CSS source of indexed websites, and account, which reports the current plan and searches left today. Queries support exact text, multiple terms, alternatives, exclusions, site: filters, and depth:all for inner pages. Results can include rows, paging, and snippets.
- When to use it
- Useful when you want to find which sites load a particular script, use a library, or carry a tracking ID or widget, and to check remaining search quota before running more queries.
- Requirements
- A remote streamable HTTP endpoint at Sign-in is by OAuth for Claude, ChatGPT, and Claude Code, or by a bearer token issued on the PublicWWW profile page and supplied through the PUBLICWWW_TOKEN environment variable for other clients. A PublicWWW account is needed; a free account works within its limits.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open PublicWWW in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config.

PublicWWW MCP server
Search the source code (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) of hundreds of millions of websites from an AI assistant: which sites load a script, use a library, carry a tracking id or a widget. PublicWWW runs a remote MCP server:
Two read-only tools: search (query, rows, page, snippets) and account (plan and
searches left today). Every account can use it, a free one included - see
limits.
- OAuth - Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code send you to PublicWWW to press Allow. Nothing to copy.
- A token - other clients send
Authorization: Bearer <token>. Issue one on your profile page and keep it in thePUBLICWWW_TOKENenvironment variable.
Install
The Cursor button reads the token from PUBLICWWW_TOKEN; VS Code asks for it once
and keeps it in its secret storage.
Claude Code plugin
The MCP server (sign in with OAuth) and a skill that teaches the query syntax:
Then run /mcp, pick publicwww and choose Authenticate.
Gemini CLI extension
It asks for the token once and keeps it in the system keychain.
Agent skill
skills/publicwww-search is a skill in the open
Agent Skills format: how to write PublicWWW queries and use the two tools. Copy the
folder into your agent's skills directory (for example .agents/skills/ or
~/.claude/skills/).
Query syntax, briefly
More: query syntax.
Calling it directly
examples/mcp-curl.sh lists the tools, reads the account and
runs a search with plain curl. Streamable HTTP, JSON answers, no sessions - see
for developers.
For scripts the REST API is the simpler road - the same search and token, with CSV and NDJSON. Small clients: Python, JavaScript, PHP, Go, Ruby.
