What it does
Taoyuan compiles a plain-language request into a song plan — title, sectioned lyrics and style — then generates two full versions with cover art. Tools include create_song for a one-call finished song, compile_music_prompt and revise_generation_prompt for free planning and edits, generate_music and get_generation for submitting and polling, replace_section to redo one part, separate_stems for vocals/instrumental splits, plus list_tracks, list_presets, get_credit_balance and get_purchase_link. It also exposes MCP prompts and resources such as scene knowledge cards.
When to use it
Useful when someone wants a personalised song as a gift or keepsake — birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, podcast intros — and wants to review lyrics before spending a generation. Less suited to professional music production or precise audio editing.
Requirements
Runs as a remote MCP endpoint at the provider's API URL, or locally via the npm package taoyuan-mcp (Node.js, npx) as a stdio proxy. Authentication is by API key in the TAOYUAN_API_KEY environment variable or an Authorization Bearer header, or by OAuth sign-in for claude.ai and ChatGPT connectors. A key is created on the provider's developer page; new keys include 3 free credits. Network access is required.
Before you install
Generation spends credits: create_song, generate_music and replace_section cost 1 credit each, and paid credit packs are bought through a Stripe checkout link the server can return. The API key (TAOYUAN_API_KEY, prefix ty_live_) is a secret and should not be shared. Requests are sent to the provider's servers, and generated songs are subject to the provider's terms; rate limits are 10 calls per minute and 300 per day per key.

Installation

  1. Open Taoyuan Music in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

The server also exposes MCP prompts (birthday, wedding, podcast intro…) and resources (scene knowledge cards, track details).

How it works

Taoyuan is not a raw text-to-music wrapper. Your sentence goes through a songwriting compiler that decides structure, imagery and language, writes sectioned lyrics in the second person, and picks a style; the result is generated as two full candidates with cover art. Lyrics are written from the story, never copied from the prompt. Languages: Chinese, Cantonese, English, Japanese.

  • Rate limits: 10 calls / min, 300 / day per key
