Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets a coding agent receive UI feedback notes with selectors, styles, component chains and screenshots from a running web page or iOS Simulator app.

What it does
Pinpoint is a local stdio MCP server that connects a coding agent to a running Pinpoint bridge. When you point at an element in a browser page or a native app in the iOS Simulator and describe what should change, the agent receives your comment together with the selector, DOM path, styles, component chain, a source-file hint and a cropped screenshot. If the bridge is not running, the server reads previously saved notes instead.
When to use it
Useful when you want to give a coding agent precise, element-level UI feedback while developing a web app or an iOS Simulator app, instead of describing locations in prose. It suits local front-end and app development workflows where the agent should act on the exact element you clicked.
Requirements
Runs as a local process on the user's machine via npx pinpoint-bridge mcp, so Node.js is needed. The bridge must be set up from the repository, and setup also loads a browser extension that is not part of the npm package. The bridge listens on 127.0.0.1, with its port configurable through the PINPOINT_PORT environment variable (default 7331). Desktop only.
Before you install
The server reads UI context from your running app, including DOM paths, styles, component chains, source-file hints and screenshots, and passes it to the coding agent, so review what is captured before sharing. Setup clones a repository and loads a browser extension. Traffic is described as staying on 127.0.0.1.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Pinpoint in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

pinpoint-bridge

The local bridge and MCP server behind Pinpoint: point at an element in your running app — a page in your browser, or a native app in the iOS Simulator — say what should change, and your coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex…) gets your comment with the selector, DOM path, styles, component chain, source-file hint and a cropped screenshot.

Set it up from the repository — setup also loads the browser extension, which is not in this package:

bash
git clone https://github.com/gowtham012/pinpointnode pinpoint/bridge/cli.js setup

This package is what MCP clients run: npx -y pinpoint-bridge mcp is a stdio MCP server that talks to the running bridge, or reads the saved notes when the bridge is not running. The iOS Simulator picker is served by the bridge at http://127.0.0.1:7331/ios. Everything stays on 127.0.0.1.
