Overview

AI-generated overview

Draws UML state machine diagrams from a short line grammar and checks the machine for unreachable states, dead ends and duplicate transitions.

What you can do
  • Draw a UML state diagram from line-based text and get PDF, SVG and CSV downloads
  • Check state machine text without drawing it, returning pass or fail with line numbers and tokens for grammar errors
  • Report unreachable states, states with no path to the end, and transitions leaving one state on the same event and guard
  • Support composite states nested up to three levels, choice pseudostates, notes and comments
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to turn a described workflow or order lifecycle into a shareable state diagram document, or to sanity-check a state machine's reachability before implementing it.
Requirements
A remote endpoint; no authentication, environment variables or headers are declared. Nothing needs to be installed locally.
Before you install
Generated files are kept for only 1 hour before deletion, so download links stop working; save the output promptly. Diagram text is sent to a third-party hosted service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Zovo State Diagram in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.theluckystrike%2Fstate-diagram/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

make_state_diagram

Make state diagram

Use this when the user wants a UML state diagram or state machine drawn, for example "draw the states of an order" or "make a PDF of this state machine". Takes the diagram text in a line grammar: state Name / state "Long label" as Name / state Name <<choice>> / state Name { ... } (composite, nest up to 3); [*] -> A (start), A -> [*] (end); A -> B: event [guard] / action; A -> A: event (self); note A: text; # comments. When the user describes the machine in words, write it in this grammar first. Returns counts, states, transitions in input order, the machine check (unreachable states, states with no path to the end, non-deterministic transitions), a check on the drawing, the PDF page count, an interactive diagram, and PDF, SVG and CSV downloads. Refuses a line outside the grammar with its line number and token. Up to 80 states and 300 transitions. Does not read fork, join, history or concurrent regions. Download links of large diagrams expire after about 1 hour.

check_state_diagram

Check state diagram text

Use this when the user wants state machine text checked without a drawing, for example "which states are unreachable?" or "check my state diagram for dead ends". Takes the same diagram text as make_state_diagram. Returns ready true or false; when a line breaks the grammar, the line number, the token and the reason; otherwise the states with incoming and outgoing transition counts, states not reachable from the start, states with no path to the end (both by breadth-first search; a composite state is entered through its own start), and transitions that leave the same state on the same event and guard. Does not draw the diagram or make files, and does not read fork, join, history or concurrent regions.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
