Overview

AI-generated overview

SourceMed gives an assistant a source-verified clinical evidence library: ask evidence questions, browse shelves, and read cited cards.

What you can do
  • Ask clinical-evidence questions and get a covered or not-covered answer with summary and full shelf records
  • List all shelves with number, title, browse area and card count
  • Fetch one shelf in full by its permanent number, including question, balance-of-evidence line, MeSH terms and every card
  • Search shelves by keyword across titles, questions, balance lines and card headlines
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to answer medical or clinical questions from a curated, source-verified evidence library rather than open web search, or when you want to browse and cite specific evidence shelves with PMIDs.
Requirements
Runs as a local process over stdio, installed from the sourcemed-mcp PyPI package, so a Python environment is needed. No authentication, environment variables or headers are declared. Desktop-only; not available as a web executable.
Before you install
Answers are limited to the library's covered shelves and return covered: false otherwise, so it is not a general medical reference. Evidence is informational and should not replace professional clinical judgement. No credentials or write actions are declared.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open SourceMed in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

ask_sourcemed
