Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server for Captivate podcast hosting: read shows, episodes, media and download analytics, and update episode text.

What you can do
  • Look up the user profile and list the shows a user can access, with show details and public RSS feed URLs
  • List a show's episodes, including scheduled future episodes, and fetch a single episode's full record
  • List and inspect uploaded media files for a show
  • Pull download analytics for a show or episode: date-range overview, averages, all-time totals and monthly figures
  • Update an episode's text fields (title, shownotes, summary, subtitle)
  • Check usage, request a feature, upgrade or cancel the subscription
When to use it
Useful when you manage a Captivate-hosted podcast and want an assistant to answer questions about episodes, publishing schedule and download performance, or to make small text edits to episode metadata without opening the dashboard.
Requirements
Remote endpoint reached over streamable HTTP; no local install. Sign-in is via OAuth, and on first connect you supply your Captivate user ID and Captivate API token (from the Captivate dashboard API settings), which the server stores per user. No keys go in the client config.
Before you install
The server stores your Captivate user ID and API token on its side. One tool, captivate_update_episode, changes episode text fields and should be confirmed first. Meta tools can start a paid subscription through a Stripe checkout link or cancel it, with no refund for the current period. Free plan is limited to 50 tool calls per month; paid plans are billed per user.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Captivate MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Fcaptivate/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Captivate MCP by usefulapi

Use your Captivate account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Read shows, episodes, scheduled episodes, media files and download analytics, and update episode text. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://captivate.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://captivate.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http captivate https://captivate.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "captivate": {      "url": "https://captivate.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Captivate credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/captivate/

On first connect you provide your Captivate user ID and Captivate API token (Captivate dashboard → user settings → API). The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
