Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server that lets an assistant read HR WORKS data: persons, organization units, absences, job postings and job applications.

What you can do
  • List and look up persons, including base data such as names, personnel number and external ids
  • List active organization units (departments, locations) with number, uuid and name
  • List absences by type within a date interval of at most one year, paged
  • List job postings with their offers and publication/expiry dates, paged
  • List job applications, optionally filtered by post and status, 50 per page
  • Check usage, request a missing feature, upgrade or cancel the subscription
When to use it
Useful when you want to ask questions about your HR WORKS tenant in plain language, such as who is absent this week, which job postings are open and when their offers expire, or who belongs to a given department, without opening the HR system.
Requirements
Remote endpoint at hrworks.usefulapi.io, added by URL only; the server signs in via OAuth and asks for the HR WORKS access key and secret access key of an API key pair, created by an HR WORKS API administrator. No local install, no keys in config files. Free plan allows 50 tool calls per month.
Before you install
The login page asks for an HR WORKS API key pair; the secret is shown only once and is stored per user by the hosted service. Data is read-only, but it includes personal and absence data, so access should be limited to people allowed to see it. Paid plans cost money ($9/month Pro, $39/month Pro+), and upgrade returns a Stripe Checkout link; cancellation runs to the end of the paid period with no refund.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open HR WORKS MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Fhrworks/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

HR WORKS MCP by usefulapi

Use your HR WORKS account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. It reads persons, organization units, absences, job postings and applications, and it changes nothing. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://hrworks.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://hrworks.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http hrworks https://hrworks.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "hrworks": {      "url": "https://hrworks.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your HR WORKS credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/hrworks/

On first connect you provide the HR WORKS access key and secret access key of an API key pair. An HR WORKS API administrator creates the pair under Administrator → Basics → HRworks API, and the secret is shown only once. The server validates the pair and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
