Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server that lets an assistant inspect a Knack no-code database's schema and read, create, update or delete its records.

What you can do
  • Inspect the app schema, list objects (tables) and list an object's fields
  • List and fetch records, with paging, sorting and both formatted and raw field values
  • Run a raw read-only GET against any Knack API path not covered by a dedicated tool
  • Create, update and delete records in an object
  • Check monthly usage, request a feature, and upgrade or cancel the paid plan
When to use it
Useful when you keep data in a Knack app and want an assistant to answer questions about tables and records, or to add, edit and remove records without opening the Knack builder.
Requirements
Remote endpoint reached over streamable HTTP; no local package. Sign-in is via OAuth, and on first connect you paste your Knack Application ID and REST API Key (sent as X-Knack-Application-Id and X-Knack-REST-API-Key). A free plan allows 50 tool calls per month; paid plans raise the limit.
Before you install
Create, update and delete tools change or permanently remove Knack records, and deletion is irreversible. Your Knack Application ID and REST API Key are handed to the hosted service. Paid plans are billed through Stripe checkout links, and cancelling does not refund the current period. Usage is metered per tool call.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Knack MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Fknack/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Knack MCP by usefulapi

Connect Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client to your Knack no-code database — read, create, update and delete records, and inspect objects, fields and schema.

Live endpoint: https://knack.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/knack

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://knack.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http knack https://knack.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "knack": {      "url": "https://knack.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Knack credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/knack/

On first connect you'll paste two credentials — your Application ID and REST API Key (Knack Builder → Settings → API & Code). They're sent as the X-Knack-Application-Id and X-Knack-REST-API-Key headers on every request.

knack_get_application

Get application schema

Fetch a Knack application's full schema/metadata — its objects (tables), fields, and scenes. Knack API: GET /applications/{app_id}. Returns the raw JSON as-is. app_id defaults to the configured KNACK_APPLICATION_ID.

ParametersappId

knack_list_objects

List objects (tables)

List an application's objects (tables) as a compact array [{ key, name, fieldCount }]. Convenience over GET /applications/{app_id}. app_id defaults to the configured KNACK_APPLICATION_ID.

ParametersappId

knack_list_fields

List fields for an object

List the fields of ONE object as [{ key, name, type, required }]. Fetches GET /applications/{app_id} and returns the fields of the object whose key === objectKey (e.g. "object_1"). app_id defaults to the configured KNACK_APPLICATION_ID.

ParametersappIdobjectKeyrequired

knack_list_records

List records

List an object's records. Knack API: GET /objects/{object_key}/records. Returns the paged envelope { total_pages, current_page, total_records, records: [...] } as-is. Records carry both field_x (formatted) and field_x_raw (structured) values. Page with page / rows_per_page (max 1000), sort with sort_field / sort_order, and filter with the `filters` object.

ParameterspagefiltersobjectKeyrequiredsort_fieldsort_orderrows_per_page

knack_get_record

Get a record

Fetch a single record by id. Knack API: GET /objects/{object_key}/records/{record_id}. Returns the bare record (with both field_x and field_x_raw values).

ParametersrecordIdrequiredobjectKeyrequired

knack_request

Raw Knack API GET

Power-user escape hatch: GET any Knack API path not wrapped by a dedicated tool (e.g. view-based reads). READ-ONLY — only GET is allowed. Path starts with a slash (e.g. "/objects/object_1/records"). Knack API: GET {path}.

Parameterspathrequiredquery

knack_create_record

Create a record

MUTATES Knack data — creates a new record in an object. Knack API: POST /objects/{object_key}/records. Provide `fields` as an object keyed by field key, e.g. { "field_1": "Acme", "field_2": 100 }. Auto Increment / Formula / Equation fields are read-only and cannot be set. Returns the created record.

ParametersfieldsrequiredobjectKeyrequired

knack_update_record

Update a record

MUTATES Knack data — updates a record. Knack API: PUT /objects/{object_key}/records/{record_id}. Provide `fields` as an object keyed by field key; only the included fields change, e.g. { "field_1": "Acme Inc" }. Auto Increment / Formula / Equation fields are read-only. Returns the updated record.

ParametersfieldsrequiredrecordIdrequiredobjectKeyrequired

knack_delete_record

Delete a record

MUTATES Knack data — permanently DELETES a record (irreversible). Knack API: DELETE /objects/{object_key}/records/{record_id}. Knack returns { delete: true } on success.
