Overview

AI-generated overview

Read Lessonspace sessions, participants, spaces and users, fetch recording and transcript links, launch a space and rename sessions.

What you can do
  • List and inspect sessions with participants, guests, tags, summary and recording state, filtered by time, space, participant or tags
  • List spaces and the sessions held in each, including join/leave logs and currently connected users
  • Get playback URLs for session recordings and signed download URLs for transcripts
  • Launch a space to create or reuse it and issue a join link for one participant
  • Rename a session and set who may watch its recording
  • List organisation users with role, active state and external id
When to use it
Useful for tutors, teachers or admins who want an assistant to answer questions about past Lessonspace sessions, find who attended, check whether a recording or transcript is ready, or start a live space and hand out a join link.
Requirements
Remote hosted endpoint; no local install. Connect with the server URL only and sign in through OAuth with your own Lessonspace credentials; no API key or Authorization header is added to the client config. A free plan allows 50 tool calls per month; paid plans are available.
Before you install
Write tools rename sessions, change recording access and create spaces with live join links; confirm before running them. Join links, space URLs, recording playback URLs and transcript download URLs are access credentials and should go only to entitled people. Names and emails of users and participants are personal data. Paid plans are billed through Stripe checkout links, and cancelling gives no refund for the current period.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Lessonspace MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Flessonspace/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Lessonspace MCP by usefulapi

Use Lessonspace from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client — tutoring sessions with their recordings and transcripts, spaces and their sessions, and users, plus launching a space (returns a join link for a real participant) and updating a session. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own Lessonspace credentials.

Live endpoint: https://lessonspace.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/lessonspace

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://lessonspace.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http lessonspace https://lessonspace.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "lessonspace": {      "url": "https://lessonspace.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Lessonspace credentials.

lessonspace_list_sessions

List sessions

List the organisation's sessions (a session is one meeting held in a space): name, uuid, start/end time, space, participants (name, email, role), guests, billable seconds, tags, summary and recording state. Filter by time, duration, participant, space, launch id or tags. Newest first as Lessonspace orders them. Each session's playback_url is an access link to its recording, and participant emails are personal data: treat both as sensitive and share them only with someone entitled to see them. GET /organisations/sessions/.

Parameterspagetagssearchuser_idslaunch_idspace_idsuser_namedate_afterdate_beforeduration_maxduration_minend_time_after+6 more

lessonspace_get_session

Get session

One session by uuid, with its space, participants, guests, tags, summary and recording state. GET /organisations/sessions/{session}/.

Parameterssessionrequired

lessonspace_get_session_recording

Get session recording URL

The playback URL of a session's recording. status 'ready' = the URL works now; 'preparing' = Lessonspace is still creating it (ask again in a minute); 'no_recording' = recording was disabled, so none exists. The URL is an access link: give it only to someone entitled to watch the recording. GET /organisations/sessions/{session}/playback/.

Parameterssessionrequired

lessonspace_get_session_transcript

Get session transcript URL

A signed download URL for a session's transcript. Only works if transcription was switched on for the session (launch with transcribe=true). The URL is an access link: give it only to someone entitled to read the transcript. GET /organisations/sessions/{session}/transcript/.

Parameterssessionrequired

lessonspace_update_session

Rename session / set recording access

WRITE: rename a session and optionally set who may watch its recording (a list of participant, admin, teacher, student; an empty list falls back to the organisation policy). The name is always sent (Lessonspace requires it). PATCH /organisations/sessions/{session}/.

Parametersnamerequiredsessionrequiredrecording_access_policy

lessonspace_list_spaces

List spaces

List the organisation's spaces (persistent rooms): id, name, slug, alias, url, tags, lock state, region and recording/transcription settings. The url of a space is a way in; treat it as sensitive. GET /organisations/spaces/.

Parameterspagesearchtag_keyuser_idstag_valuedate_afterdate_beforesession_idsassigned_to_ids

lessonspace_list_space_sessions

List sessions of a space

Sessions held in one space, with the join/leave log (who joined, left or went idle, and when) and the users connected now. Same filters as lessonspace_list_sessions. GET /spaces/{space}/sessions/.

Parameterspagetagsspacerequiredsearchuser_idslaunch_iduser_namedate_afterdate_beforeduration_maxduration_minend_time_after+6 more

lessonspace_launch_space

Launch a space (create a join link)

WRITE: create a space, or reuse the one with the same `id`, and get a join link (client_url) for one participant. The link is a live credential for a real person: share it only with that person and never post it elsewhere. Calling again with the same id reuses the space but issues a new link; it is not safe to repeat blindly. Lessonspace's own `secret` is never returned. POST /spaces/launch/.

lessonspace_list_users

List users

List the organisation's users: Lessonspace user id, name, email, role (teacher, student, admin), active state and external id. Names and emails are personal data. GET /organisations/users/.
