Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted Linear connector that lets an assistant search and read issues, teams, projects and cycles, and create issues or comments.

What you can do
  • Search and read issues by text, team, state or assignee, and fetch a single issue with its description, state, assignee and recent comments
  • List workspace teams, projects with progress and target dates, and cycles (sprints)
  • List issues assigned to the signed-in user
  • Create new issues with title, markdown description, priority and assignee
  • Post markdown comments on existing issues
  • Check monthly usage, request a missing feature, and manage or cancel a paid plan
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to answer questions about your Linear workspace — what is assigned to you, what is in progress, how projects are tracking — or to file issues and comments without leaving the chat.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint at linear.usefulapi.io/mcp; no local install. Sign-in is via OAuth with your Linear account on first connect; no API key or Authorization header is added to the client config. A free plan allows 50 tool calls per month.
Before you install
Creating issues and adding comments write to your Linear workspace, so confirm before running them. The service is metered: the free tier is 50 calls a month, and paid plans (Pro, Pro+) are billed through a Stripe checkout link returned by the upgrade tool; cancelling keeps access to the end of the paid period with no refund. Your Linear data passes through a third-party host.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Linear MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Flinear/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Linear MCP by usefulapi

Manage Linear from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client — search and read issues, browse projects/teams/cycles, and create issues and comments. Hosted, no local install: connect with your Linear account over OAuth.

Live endpoint: https://linear.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/linear

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://linear.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http linear https://linear.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "linear": {      "url": "https://linear.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and you sign in with your Linear account.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/linear/

On first connect you'll be sent to Linear to authorize; your token is stored per-user and scoped to you. No API keys to paste.
