Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server that lets an assistant inspect and control Northflank projects, services, jobs, builds and addons via your Northflank API token.

What you can do
  • List and inspect projects, services, jobs, addons, domains and secret-group metadata
  • View build history and CPU/memory metrics for a service
  • Create a combined service that builds a linked GitHub repository and deploys it
  • Trigger builds, restart, scale, pause and resume services
  • Check monthly tool-call usage, request a feature, upgrade or cancel the subscription
When to use it
Useful when you run workloads on Northflank and want to check status, metrics or build history, or perform routine operations like restarting, scaling or redeploying a service from a chat client without opening the dashboard.
Requirements
Remote endpoint at northflank.usefulapi.io/mcp; no local install. Sign-in is via OAuth, and on first connect you paste a Northflank API token, which is validated and stored per user. No Authorization header or API key goes in the client config. A free tier allows 50 tool calls per month.
Before you install
Several tools change infrastructure: creating a service, triggering builds, restarting, scaling, pausing and resuming. Creating a service may incur Northflank build/compute charges and expose the selected HTTP port publicly, and deployment plans carry separate Northflank infrastructure costs. Your Northflank API token is stored by the third-party host. Paid plans (Pro, Pro+) are billed through Stripe checkout links, and cancellation gives no refund for the current period.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Northflank MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Fnorthflank/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Northflank MCP by usefulapi

Inspect and control your Northflank projects, services, and deployments from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Hosted, no local install — connect with your Northflank API token.

Live endpoint: https://northflank.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/northflank

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://northflank.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http northflank https://northflank.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "northflank": {      "url": "https://northflank.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Northflank credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/northflank/

On first connect you'll paste your Northflank API token. It's validated, stored per-user, and scoped to you.

northflank_list_repositories

List connected GitHub repositories

List GitHub repositories accessible through Northflank's linked GitHub accounts, with repository URLs and account logins for northflank_create_combined_service. Does not connect a new GitHub account. GET /v1/integrations/vcs/repos.

ParameterspagecursorteamIdper_pageaccountLogin

northflank_list_plans

List deployment plans

List Northflank deployment plan IDs, CPU, RAM and vendor prices. Choose an explicit deploymentPlan for northflank_create_combined_service; these are Northflank infrastructure charges, separate from UsefulAPI. GET /v1/plans.

Takes no parameters.

northflank_create_combined_service

Create GitHub build and deployment service (incurs charges)

MUTATING: create a combined service that builds a connected GitHub repository and deploys it. May incur Northflank build/compute charges and expose the selected HTTP port publicly. Confirm the repository, branch, plan, port and inherited-secret access with the user, then pass confirm=true. Supply absolute Dockerfile/context paths. environmentSecretReferences maps runtime variable names to existing inherited variable NAMES (for example DATABASE_URL: DB_CONNECTION becomes ${DB_CONNECTION}); never supply secret values. Secret groups must already apply to this service through project scope, existing tags or stageId. This tool does not change secret-group restrictions. A successful creation is not proof of a successful build or healthy deployment: inspect the service and build history. Never blindly retry an uncertain creation; list services first. POST /v1/projects/{projectId}/services/combined.
