Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted read-only MCP access to Protime time tracking: clockings, absences, assignments, contracts, people and tenant configuration.

What you can do
  • List clockings, absences and work assignments for a date range, with paging via continuation tokens
  • List employment contracts, people and a single person by internal ID
  • List tenant configuration: departments, jobs, work locations, shift definitions, absence definitions and absence groups
  • Check monthly usage, request a missing feature, upgrade or cancel the subscription
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to answer questions about working time, leave and staffing from Protime without opening the app, for example who was clocked in last week, who is absent next Monday, or which departments and locations exist in the tenant.
Requirements
Remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local install. Sign-in is via OAuth, and on first connect you supply the tenant name, environment, and the client ID and client secret issued by Protime for your tenant. No API key or Authorization header goes in the client config. Each tool needs its matching read scope, such as connector-protimeapi-clockings.read.
Before you install
The server stores your Protime tenant credentials per user after validating them. It returns personal data such as names, work emails, service dates and contracts, though home address, birth date, bank, passport and social security data are excluded. All data tools are read-only. Paid plans cost money: Pro at $9/month or $90/year and Pro+ at $39/month or $390/year, billed through a Stripe Checkout link, with no refund for the current period on cancellation. The free plan allows 50 calls per…

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Protime MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Fprotime/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Protime MCP by usefulapi

Use your Protime account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Read clockings, absences, assignments, contracts, people, departments, jobs and shift definitions. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://protime.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://protime.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http protime https://protime.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "protime": {      "url": "https://protime.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Protime credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/protime/

On first connect you provide your tenant name, the environment and the client ID and client secret that Protime issued for your tenant. The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
