Read staff, locations, shifts, gaps and leave; create leave requests in Rotageek.

The publisher's own server: Ably MCP by usefulapi

Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted Rotageek connector that lets an assistant read staff, locations, shifts, rota gaps, leave and timesheets, and create leave requests.

What you can do
  • List and look up staff users and locations, including users assigned to a location
  • Read a user's or a location's scheduled shifts and leave records over a date range
  • List open gaps (unfilled shifts) across one or more locations
  • List leave requests and leave types, and create a leave request for a user
  • Get a location's weekly timesheet with scheduled and worked hours per user
  • List reference data: positions, skills and payroll codes
When to use it
Useful when you want to ask scheduling questions in plain language, such as who is working at a site next week, who is on leave, or which shifts are still unfilled, and when you occasionally need to file a leave request without opening Rotageek.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint connected by URL only; no local install. Sign-in uses OAuth, and the login page asks for a Rotageek API username and API user password that a Rotageek admin or Customer Success sets up. No API key or Authorization header goes in the client config. A free plan allows 50 tool calls per month; paid plans raise the limit.
Before you install
Creating a leave request writes to Rotageek and can change the rota and holiday balance, so confirm before running it. The server stores your Rotageek API credentials per user after validating them. Usage is metered, and upgrade tools return Stripe payment links for paid plans; cancelling Pro gives no refund for the current period. Staff names, contact details and schedules are sent to the hosted service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Rotageek MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Frotageek/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Rotageek MCP by usefulapi

Use your Rotageek account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. It reads staff, locations, schedules, open gaps, leave, timesheets and reference data, and it can create a leave request. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://rotageek.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://rotageek.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http rotageek https://rotageek.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "rotageek": {      "url": "https://rotageek.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Rotageek credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/rotageek/

On first connect you provide the Rotageek API username and API user password (your Rotageek admin creates the API user, or Rotageek Customer Success sets one up). The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
