Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted Smartrr MCP server that lets an assistant read and change Shopify subscription data: customers, orders, bills, pauses, cancels and billing retries.

What you can do
  • List and inspect subscriptions, a customer's subscriptions, subscription events, orders and bills
  • Search customers and orders, and read individual orders by Shopify order id
  • Review billing attempts, bill history, selling plan groups, cancellation reasons and daily subscription analytics
  • Pause, resume, cancel, skip or unskip a subscription and change its next billing date
  • Retry a failed bill, which charges the customer's saved payment method
  • Check usage, request a feature, and upgrade or cancel the paid plan
When to use it
Useful for Shopify merchants running Smartrr subscriptions who want to ask questions in plain language about renewals, failed bills or churn, and to make routine subscription changes such as pausing, skipping or cancelling without opening the Smartrr dashboard.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint added by URL only; the server signs in with OAuth and the login page asks for Smartrr credentials. On first connect you paste a Smartrr API access token from the Shopify admin (Apps, Smartrr, Integrations). No API key or Authorization header goes in the client config. Free plan allows 50 tool calls per month.
Before you install
Several tools change live customer data: cancel is destructive and stops all future orders and charges, resume and next-billing-date restart charges, and retry_bill charges the customer's saved card and is not idempotent. Confirm before any write. The Smartrr API token is a store credential. Paid plans cost $9/month or $90/year (Pro) and $39/month or $390/year (Pro+), billed through Stripe checkout links, with no refund for the current period on cancellation.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Smartrr MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Fsmartrr/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

WRITE: pause a customer's subscription until a date: no orders or charges are created while it is paused, then it resumes on that date. Reverse it with smartrr_resume_subscription. Takes the customer id and subscription id from smartrr_list_subscriptions. PUT /vendor/customer/{customerId}/purchase-state/{subscriptionId}/pause.

Parameterscustomer_idrequiredunpause_daterequiredsubscription_idrequired

smartrr_resume_subscription

Resume a subscription

WRITE: reactivate a paused or cancelled subscription; the customer will be billed on next_billing_date and every cycle after. Customer-facing: it restarts charges to the customer's card. PUT /vendor/customer/{customerId}/purchase-state/{subscriptionId}/activate.

Parameterscustomer_idrequiredsubscription_idrequirednext_billing_daterequired

smartrr_cancel_customer_subscription

Cancel a customer's subscription

WRITE, DESTRUCTIVE: cancel a customer's subscription in the merchant's store (this is the customer's Smartrr subscription, not your usefulapi plan). It stops all future orders and charges; the reason may trigger Smartrr's configured cancellation emails or actions. It can be undone only with smartrr_resume_subscription. Get reason_id from smartrr_list_cancellation_reasons. PUT /vendor/customer/{customerId}/purchase-state/{subscriptionId}/cancel.

Parametersdatecustomer_idrequiredsubscription_idrequired

smartrr_set_next_billing_date

Parametersdaterequiredcustomer_idrequiredsubscription_idrequired

smartrr_retry_bill

Retry a failed bill

WRITE, CHARGES THE CUSTOMER: retry a billing attempt now. If it succeeds the customer's saved payment method is charged for the bill amount and the order is created. Check the bill with smartrr_list_bills first; do not retry a succeeded bill. Not idempotent: each call can charge again. Requires confirm=true. POST /vendor/bill/{billId}/retry.
