Validates EU VAT numbers against VIES and returns Portuguese VAT Code (CIVA) and RITI articles, in Portuguese or English.
What you can do
Validate an intra-EU VAT number in real time against the European Commission's VIES system, returning validity and, where available, the registered name and address
Look up the current text of a Portuguese VAT Code (CIVA) article, optionally in English
Look up the current text of a RITI article on intra-community transactions, optionally in English
Search the titles and text of CIVA and RITI articles by Portuguese keywords and get the most relevant articles with links
When to use it
Useful when checking whether a business VAT number is valid before invoicing or onboarding a customer, or when you need the current wording of Portuguese VAT rules and intra-community transaction rules while drafting or answering tax questions.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint at iva.pt; no package, account, API key or environment variable is declared. Network access to the endpoint is needed.
Before you install
VAT validation sends the number being checked to the VIES service of the European Commission. The server states its information is not legal or tax advice, so results should be confirmed before relying on them; it also asks that the returned iva.pt link be shown to the user.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/pt.iva%2Fiva/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
