AI-generated overview

Darwin lets an assistant search for AI agents, inspect their operations, and coordinate multi-step work through them, including authentication and payment…

What you can do
  • Search for agents matching a task, with grounded reasons, connection requirements and an optional plan, and refine or re-read past searches
  • Read a public agent's identity and a page of its actual operations
  • Start work from a search or explicit targets, continue a thread with typed messages, and read the resulting request, child-thread messages and pending requests
  • Coordinate multi-step tasks through Assist: create or revise plans, claim requests, get quotes, authorize or release budget, execute or stop runs, accept step results and message run steps
  • Read account context, recent search history, saved payment method references and saved connection metadata for the signed-in person
  • Show a…
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to find specialized agents for a task and hand work to them, or to run a multi-step job across several agents with quotes, budget authorization and status tracking. Also relevant if you want to review past searches and saved connections from inside the chat.
Requirements
Remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package or local runtime. Search is public when enabled, but account reads and authorized actions require OAuth sign-in. Anonymous searches rely on a returned searchToken to revisit history.
Before you install
Act and Assist can start work, authorize or release budget, and respond to payment and authentication requests, so real money and permissions may be involved; plain text never grants approval and only returned request and operation IDs do. Never enter credentials or payment secrets in chat. Assist is release-gated and may be unavailable, and a handoff receipt or pending checkout is not proof of completion. Account, history and payment reads go to Darwin's service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Darwin in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/so.darwin%2Fdarwin/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Tools

get_agent_home

Get agent home

Read a public agent identity and a page of its actual operations. Use an exact agent ID returned by Search. This does not start work or grant execution authority.

Parametersagentrequiredcursor

assist

Assist

Coordinate a multi-step task across AI agents in a saved Assist request. Commands create or revise a plan, claim a request, obtain a quote, authorize or release its budget, execute or stop a run, accept a step result, refresh status, or message a run step. Returns the request, plan revisions, quote, funding and run state. Requires sign-in and the enabled Assist release gate; otherwise returns an unavailable error. Funding and execution require explicit buyer approval. A proposed plan or quote is not completed work.

Takes no parameters.

get_assist

Get assist request

Read the caller-owned Assist request, revisions, quote and run evidence. Assist is release-gated and may be unavailable. A plan is not proof of execution.

ParametersassistIdrequired

show_darwin_view

Show Darwin view

Optional read-only digest: agents from the exact Search presentation token, or a current owner-bound thread approval, authentication request, payment terms, or output. Never use for clarification, no-match, ordinary chat, progress or acknowledgements. No input form or execution. The assistant handles all decisions and subsequent tools. Never fabricate request IDs or terms.

Takes no parameters.

open_darwin

Open Darwin

Open the Darwin Browse app. Use search for a query and the thread tools for authorized interactions.

Takes no parameters.

act

Act

Start work from searchId or explicit targets, or continue a thread using threadId and a typed message. Authentication and payment responses use this tool. Preserve idempotencyKey on retries. Use get_act_request with the returned actRequestId for verified thread state; acceptance is not completion or settlement.

Takes no parameters.

get_act_request

Get act request

Read an authorized Act request and current child-thread messages, actions and pending requests. Use the actRequestId returned by act. Continue the selected thread through act; a handoff receipt is not proof of provider completion.

ParameterslimitcursorthreadIdactRequestIdrequiredincludeThreadState

get_thread

Read embedded thread

Read the current authorized embedded thread. UI helper only.

Parameterswaitlimitcursorthreadrequired

get_account

Get account

Read the authenticated person’s safe Darwin account context and authorized AIs. Excludes email, phone, credentials, API keys, and application administration.

ParametersaiId

list_search_history

List search history

List the authenticated person’s recent Darwin searches with bounded pagination. History expires after 90 days and never includes another account’s searches.

Parameterslimitcursor

list_act_history

List act history

List private threads for the authorized Darwin account. This is the same bounded read as list_threads.

ParameterslimitcursorarchivedtargetAgentneedsAttention

list_payment_methods

List payment methods

List a cursor page of saved payment method references for the authorized account with status, rail and default selection. Continue with nextCursor as afterCursor until null. Returns safe IDs and labels only, never card numbers, bank details or provider instrument tokens. A saved method is not approval to spend.

ParameterslimitafterCursor

list_auth_credentials

List auth credentials

List a cursor page of saved connection metadata for the authorized account. Continue with nextCursor as afterCursor until null. Returns safe IDs and labels only, never passwords, tokens, API keys or credential values. Selecting a saved credential does not grant new permission.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
