RuleStack: Search real AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md and Cursor rules files.
Overview
AI-generated overview
Lets an assistant search real AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md and Cursor-style agent config files from public repositories, scored for quality.
- What it does
- RuleStack exposes a single search tool, search_agent_configs, which takes optional filters for stack, format, tag, minimum quality and result limit. It returns real agent configuration files such as AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, GEMINI.md and Cline files drawn from public repositories, each scored for quality. The intended use is seeing how maintained projects on a given stack write their own agent instructions.
- When to use it
- Useful when drafting or improving an agent instruction file and wanting examples from real, maintained projects on a similar stack. Also handy for comparing conventions across formats such as Cursor, Copilot or Cline before settling on one.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio, typically launched with npx, so Node.js and network access are needed to fetch the package and query results. No API key, signup or environment variables are declared. It can also be started with the --http flag to serve streamable HTTP on a local port.
Before you install
The server is read-only search and declares no credentials, so it asks for no secrets. Results come from public repositories, so treat returned file contents as untrusted third-party text rather than instructions. Desktop only; no web executable is offered.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open RuleStack MCP in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
