Write Product Spec
by warpdotdev2a03b403b4f8No licenseListed Oct 8, 2026Updated Oct 8, 2026
Write a PRODUCT.md spec for a significant user-facing feature in Warp, focused on detailed behavior and validation. Use when the user asks for a product spec, desired behavior doc, or PRD, wants to define feature behavior before implementation, or when the feature is substantial or behaviorally ambiguous enough that a written spec would improve implementation or review.

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent that can run commands — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this skill's install guide, shows you its source, license and scripts, and installs it with the SourceWeft CLI once you agree.
Read https://sourceweft.com/skills/gh-warpdotdev-common-skills-write-product-spec/install.md and install the skill it describes. Before installing, show me its source, license and whether it ships scripts, and wait for my OK. Ask me before changing anything else on my machine.Install it yourself from a terminal
For Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other local agents. The SourceWeft CLI fetches the skill from its source repository at the commit scanned here, and verifies every file against the hashes recorded when the skill was scanned. If anything differs, nothing is written.

Write Tech Spec
warpdotdev
Writes a TECH.md technical spec for a significant feature, grounded in codebase research and implementation constraints.

Write Pr Description
warpdotdev
Writes the body of a pull request - the summary, the repository template sections, and reviewer guidance such as a recommended reading order and focus areas. Use whenever drafting or revising a PR description, filling in a repository's PR template, refreshing a description that no longer matches the branch, or preparing a branch for review. Use it even when the user only says "open a PR", "put this up for review", or "write this up" without naming the description.

Write Feature Docs
warpdotdev
Drafts a first-pass MDX documentation page for a new Warp feature from its spec, then opens a draft PR in the docs repo.

Validate Changes Match Specs
warpdotdev
Validates that a branch or pull request implementation matches its checked-in product, technical, and security specs.

Spec Driven Implementation
warpdotdev
Guides a spec-first workflow for substantial features, writing PRODUCT.md and TECH.md before implementation and keeping them current.

Scan New Specs
warpdotdev
Deprecated skill notice: it scanned merged product specs and auto-drafted documentation pull requests, and is retired.
