Lets an assistant look up traditional color names across Japanese and 10 other cultures, returning hex/RGB values with sources and finding the nearest named hue
What you can do
The server exposes four tools for traditional color data. find_color looks up a color by name, accepting Japanese kanji, hiragana or katakana readings, or English names, with or without the 色 suffix, and returns hex/RGB values with sources. nearest_colors takes a hex code and returns the closest traditional colors ranked by CIEDE2000 color difference. list_colors filters colors by culture, category, era or tag, returning at most 50 per call, and list_cultures lists the cultures covered with color counts and categories.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to name a color in a cultural tradition, translate a hex value into a traditional Japanese or other cultural color name, or browse colors by era or category. It suits design, writing and research tasks that reference traditional color vocabularies.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint at color.omikuji.dev; no packages, accounts, API keys, environment variables or headers are declared. Network access to the endpoint is needed.
Before you install
The server is read-only lookup and listing; no writes, payments or credentials are declared. Queries, including color names and hex codes, are sent to a third-party endpoint.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.omikuji%2Fcolor/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Look up traditional colors by name and get hex/RGB with sources. Accepts Japanese kanji (浅葱色), reading in hiragana or katakana (あさぎいろ), English (Asagi, Prussian Blue), with or without 色. Exact name matches come first.
