Remote MCP server that lets an assistant check public holidays, business days and long weekends for about 250 countries in local time zones.
What you can do
Check dates: say whether each date is a public holiday, weekend or business day, with holiday name, status and today's date in the country's time zone
List holidays: show a country's public holidays for a year or a date range, or the next 10 upcoming holidays
Count business days: count business days between two dates or find the date N business days after a start date, using local weekends, holidays and make-up working days
Find long weekends: list runs of 3 or more consecutive days off, such as Japan's Golden Week or China's National Day Golden Week
When to use it
Useful when scheduling, planning deadlines, deliveries or travel around holidays, or when an assistant needs to know whether a given date is a working day in a specific country.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package, account, API key or environment variable is declared. Country is given as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code and defaults to JP when omitted.
Before you install
Data covers roughly last year to two years ahead; holidays marked estimated are not yet announced or depend on moon sighting, and unannounced Japanese years are reported as unknown. Days off limited to government offices are listed but not counted unless include_government is set, so business-day counts can differ from local practice.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.omikuji%2Fholiday/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
For each date, tell whether it is a public holiday in the country (with its name and status), a weekend, and a business day, including make-up working days such as China's 调休. Also returns today in that country's time zone. For Japan, the kind is also given: 祝日 (national holiday) / 振替休日 (substitute holiday) / 国民の休日 (citizens' holiday).
List a country's public holidays for a year, or between from and to (and make-up working days, if any). With no year or range, lists the next 10 holidays from today in that country.
Count business days between start and end (inclusive), or find the date that is N business days after start (add=N; negative N goes backward; start itself is not counted). Uses the country's weekend days, public holidays and make-up working days. For Japan, set year_end_closed to also skip 12/29-1/3.
Find long weekends: 3+ consecutive days off made of weekends and public holidays in the country (e.g. Japan's Golden Week, China's National Day Golden Week). Give a year, or from (default today) to list upcoming ones.
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
