Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote DocRaptor server that lets an assistant turn HTML or a live URL into hosted PDF and Excel documents, with async jobs and history.

What you can do
  • Create PDF, XLS or XLSX documents from HTML content or a URL, returning a hosted download link
  • Check the status of asynchronous document jobs, including page counts when complete
  • List metadata for documents created on the account, most recent first
  • List the DocRaptor IP addresses used to fetch remote assets, for allowlisting
  • Report usage against the monthly call allowance and manage the subscription
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to produce downloadable PDF or Excel files from HTML or a web page without running a local renderer, and to keep track of what was generated.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint connected by URL only; sign-in is via OAuth, and the login page asks for a DocRaptor API key, which is validated and stored per user. No local install or client-side Authorization header is needed. A free plan allows 50 tool calls per month; paid plans raise the limit.
Before you install
Creating documents writes data and consumes the monthly call allowance; the free tier is capped at 50 calls. Upgrade and cancel tools affect a paid subscription and return a Stripe Checkout link, and cancellation gives no refund for the current period. The API key is entered on the provider's login page and stored per user. DocRaptor fetches remote assets and URLs on your behalf, and its IP addresses change over time.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open DocRaptor MCP by usefulapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.usefulapi%2Fdocraptor/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

DocRaptor MCP by usefulapi

Generate PDF & Excel documents from HTML or a URL, from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Hosted, no local install — connect with your DocRaptor API key.

Live endpoint: https://docraptor.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/docraptor

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://docraptor.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http docraptor https://docraptor.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "docraptor": {      "url": "https://docraptor.usefulapi.io/mcp"    }  }}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your DocRaptor credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/docraptor/

On first connect you'll paste your DocRaptor API key. It's validated, stored per-user, and scoped to you.

docraptor_create_document

Create a document (PDF/XLS/XLSX)

Generate a PDF or Excel document from HTML (document_content) or a URL (document_url). Exactly one of document_content / document_url is required. By default the document is HOSTED and the tool returns a { download_url } you can fetch — ideal for agents (no large binary in the response). Hosted documents require a paid DocRaptor add-on. Without that add-on, set hosted:false to get the raw document back as base64, or async:true to enqueue a job and poll docraptor_get_document_status. Test mode is enabled by default: PDFs are watermarked and Excel files are limited to 20 rows. Set test:false explicitly to create a real document that consumes account credits (billed). DocRaptor API: POST /docs.

docraptor_get_document_status

Get async document status

Check the status of an asynchronous document created with docraptor_create_document({async:true}). Returns status (queued | working | completed | failed), and when completed a download_url / download_id / number_of_pages. DocRaptor API: GET /status/{status_id}.

Parametersstatus_idrequired

docraptor_list_documents

List documents

List metadata for documents created on this account, most recent first (paginated). Note: DocRaptor does not retain the rendered files themselves — this returns metadata such as name, type, test flag, and creation time. DocRaptor API: GET /docs.json.

Parameterspageper_page

docraptor_list_ip_addresses

List DocRaptor IP addresses

List the IP addresses DocRaptor uses to fetch remote assets / document_url. Useful for allowlisting DocRaptor on a firewall or asset host. (DocRaptor notes these change over time — prefer HTTP Basic auth over IP allowlisting for securing assets.) DocRaptor API: GET /ips.json.

Takes no parameters.
