Remote MCP server that lets an assistant look up recent earthquakes worldwide or near a place, using the USGS real-time catalog.
What you can do
Query recent earthquakes from the USGS real-time catalog, up to 30 days back.
Filter by minimum magnitude, time window, or a city or coordinates to find nearby events.
Read details per event: time, magnitude, place, depth, tsunami flag and impact alert level.
When to use it
Useful when someone asks about earthquakes today, whether a quake hit a particular city, or recent seismic activity in a region. It is a lightweight, free lookup with no account needed.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package, API key, environment variable or header is declared. Network access to the provider's endpoint is required.
Before you install
Data comes from the USGS public catalog and may lag or be incomplete; the server itself notes that safety alerts should follow local authorities. The instructions also point to a separate general-purpose tool endpoint, which is outside this server's earthquake scope.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.faceabot%2Fearthquakes/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Recent earthquakes from the USGS real-time catalog (worldwide, up to 30 days): time, magnitude, place, depth, tsunami flag and impact alert; optionally near a city or coordinates.
Use when: "earthquakes today", "was there an earthquake in Tokyo?", "séismes en Italie cette semaine".
Example: {"min_magnitude":4.5,"days":1} or {"place":"Tokyo","days":7,"min_magnitude":3}
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
